Italy Offers Asylum to Abdul Rahman

Breitbart reported: Premier Silvio Berlusconi said, "I say that we are very glad to be able to welcome someone who has been so courageous," speaking of Abdul Rahman, the Afghan Christian who faced death for converting from Islam.

Abdul was released from the high-security Policharki prison on Monday after the court dropped charges against him due to 'lack of evidence and suspected mental illness.'

The jailing of Rahman caused Pope Benedict XVI to appeal to Afghan leader Karzai for his release, and Italy, which has close ties with Afghanistan, (former Afghan king, Mohammed Zaher Shah), was allowed to live in exile in Rome for 30 years.

Hopefully the high-profile of Abdul's case will raise awareness to the hundreds of other Christians that are persecuted, tortured and even killed for their faith around the world. Bloggers can play a big part in this.

Media Bias - Hannity vs. Baldwin

Radioequalizer has a great account of Sean Hannity and Alec Baldwin's radio exchange, quoting the New York Post's John Mainelli:

The activist actor, who was road-testing his own potential talk show, called Hannity a "no-talent whore" and an "incredibly ignorant boob from Long Island.

Hannity called Baldwin - a favorite punching-bag for conservatives - on the air just as he was beginning his show, and that's when the fur started to fly.

"At first I thought this was a joke," Baldwin told his co-host, Brian Whitman.

Hannity, furious that Baldwin allegedly broke a promise to appear on his show before Whitman's, wasted no time ripping into the liberal activist.

"Welcome to WABC, considering you were supposed to come on my program last week and you didn't show. What happened?" Hannity demanded.

"Why would I want to come on with a no-talent, former-construction-worker hack like you?" Baldwin answered.

"Are you the reckless, third-rate Hollywood actor who said our vice-president, while we're at war, is a terrorist? Are you the guy?" Hannity asked.

"No wonder you didn't come on my program and defend it, you gutless coward."

"I challenge you [to] come on my program, to say on my program that our president is a mass murderer. You don't have the courage," Hannity said.

The fiery exchange continued until WABC's yappy Mark Levin, who'd also called in, asked Baldwin why ex-wife Kim Basinger is "so p--ed off at you."

At that point Baldwin bolted from the studio, cutting his planned two-hour audition in half.

Later, Baldwin wrote about the experience for the Huffington Post

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Anarchy Week and College

Since today is the last day of Anarchy Week, primarily held on college campuses, I had 19 yr old Jonathan Krive, student extraordinaire, on the show today. Having graduated high school at 15, he went on to attend Oak Brook College of Law Paralegal School, and recently took a semester of recommended classes at the local liberal-leaning Santa Rosa JC. Jonathan is also the youngest guest commentator for Changing Worldviews, except for his younger brother David. We played a segment of a talk he gave at the California Eagle Forum Annual Conference recently telling of his experiences including his JC journalism professor singling him out as an example, questioning his voting practices and more. Plus poking fun at the evolution/ID debate and more. It's a great show.

Also, don't miss David Horowitz to Debate Ward Churchill. It should be good.

Abdul Rahman - Afghan Christian Released!

"He will be released," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters. "I understand now that the details of his release and any potential onward travel are being handled as a private matter." (Reuters)

I rejoice over the release of Abdul Rahman and thank all those who played any part in bringing pressure to this end. It is very important for Abdul's safety that he find refuge from those who would take the law into their own hands and murder him. Please keep writing and praying. Palestinian New Government Picks Hard-Line Against Israel

Hamas introduced its new cabinet Sunday which will be led by their most militant members, creating a hard-line Palestinian government void of moderate voices. This also shows that they are willing to forgo future funding from Western nations, which has totaled over $1 billion a year in humanitarian aid in the past. In other words, by choosing hard-liners who do not recognize Israel's right to exist as a state, they forfeit the aid, as this was one of the requirments the West laid down in order for the PA to continue receiving financial help. Hamas says it plans to replace Western funds with funds from Iran and other Muslim states.

One of the most important positions, the diplomatic position of foreign minister, was given to Mahmoud Zahar. Zahar holds the position that Israel should be destroyed, and also supports the use of suicide bombers.

Another newly elected Hamas legislator, Ahmed Abdel-Aziz Mubarek said, "The international community has to respect the choice of the Palestinian people. The majority of the Palestinian people gave their votes to Hamas to establish the new government, so the world has to deal with this reality."

Mahmoud Abbas, who replace Arafat at his death has veto power, however, how many really think he will use it, or if he does, that it will be effective for long?

Media Wars - NBC vs. 'Conservatives'

America is not only at war in Iraq, but at war in the media. And like it or not, our success here on the homefront in terms of how Americans see the war or support the effort will be determined to a great degree by which 'side' wins the media war.

Capsule of case in point: MSNBC in reporting on Tuesday's Today Show said President Bush suggested the media was being used by the insurgents when he said, "They're capable of blowing up innocent life. So it ends up on your TV show."

See transcript of press conference.

Andrea Mitchell, author of the article wrote, "As opposition to the war rises, it's a theme amplified by Vice President Dick Cheney and conservative talk show hosts: a supposedly passive, even lazy media is focusing too much on random violence," and quoted Rush Limbaugh as an example, "And they go out and find video of a burning, smoldering vehicle blown up by an IED and that's the news of the day.”

On the show itself conservative Radio host Laura Ingraham and NBC's Richard Engel debated the effectiveness of the media's role in reporting on the war:

For example, Laura said:

"David, to do a show from Iraq means to talk to the Iraqi military, to go out with the Iraqi military, to actually have a conversation with the people. Instead of reporting from hotel balconies about the latest IEDs going off."

To which Richard responded:

"There have been about 70 reporters killed over here while trying to go out and find the stories. Another 40 of them have been taken hostage, three are still being detained by kidnappers."

To which Andrea Mitchell wrote,

"Reporters used to travel more freely, before the rise in violence during the last year and a half. But why is the administration now seeming to blame the media? In fact, it's a familiar tactic...(and then quotes David Gergen, former presidential adviser), 'I think they are batting around the press because they are frustrated they have been down in the polls so long.'It's a political strategy by a White House struggling with an unpopular war."

No American wants to see any American killed, soldier or reporter. And no American wants their news slanted...we expect it in op-eds but not in our daily news coverage, print or otherwise. We want just the facts.

Alot has being written about President Bush's press conference and the media's spin on it no need to duplicate, but for some of the buzz you might want to start here:

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Homeschooling Blamed on Republicans

Newsleader.com's editorial board blames Republicans for what they call 'pandering' to homeschoolers:

"Virginia's legislature has been largely supportive of home-schooling, and that's fine. But when Virginia begins to loosen the standards of accountability to the point that home-schooled children may get a less than quality education, we feel it's imperative to call it for what it is: Pandering to a group for purely political reasons. Each year, it seems, the General Assembly considers a bill that will loosen the standards of education that apply to those who administer home-school education. This year is no different. What home-schooling advocates seek is to allow home-school teachers — who are generally parents, naturally — to qualify as teachers while possessing only a high school education. Such a measure passed both houses of the General Assembly in 2004, only to be vetoed by former Gov. Mark Warner. This year, both the House of Delegates and the Senate have rubberstamped a similar bill and sent it on to Gov. Tim Kaine. We strongly object to the loosening of standards for Virginia's home-schooled children."

What? Parents now have to have college degrees to teach their children? Absolutely ridiculous!!

School Board Okay's Transgender Substitute

Parents are not happy with Eagleswood Township's school board approving the hire of a substitute teacher who has undergone a male to female gender change. Five out of six school board members voted to hire Lily McBeth, 71, who had taught as a man for five years at Eagleswood Elementary school. The one nay vote was by Don Haines who said he is not religious but voted against hiring McBeth because he didn't think it was appropriate for elementary school children to deal with a transgender teacher. "Young kids are too easy to persuade, too easy to confuse, he said.

The School Superintendent, Deborah Snyder, said that she or a teacher's assistant would almost always (?) accompany the transgender teacher in the classroom, and that either she or the school nurse would take children who need help to the bathroom. She also said she would tell McBeth not to discuss 'her' gender change with the young students and that the school would notify parents when McBeth substitute teaches so that "parents can arrange for their children to speak with the school psychologist if needed."

However...if parents take their kids from school for the day because McBeth is teaching, the school will count it as an unexcused absence, the Superintendent said.

What? no opting-out?

This is ridiculous...5 - 12 yr olds don't need to be exposed to this kind of controversy, and parents should be able to make the decision to not expose them without punishment. Besides, the teacher is 71 yrs old...c'mon.

Darwin Loses

A new Zogby poll shows 69 percent of Americans believe public school teachers should present both the evidence for and against Darwin's theory of evolution.
21 percent think only Darwin's theory should be taught. While the majority of Americans from every sub-group were at least twice as likely to prefer teaching both sides.

88 percent of 18-29 years old, and 70 percent of 35-54 year olds were in support, along with 73 percent of Republicans and 74 percent of independent voters and 60 percent of Democrats.

The PBS show, "Evolution" claimed "virtually every scientist in the world believes Darwin's theory to be true." I guess they forgot about the over 500 scientists with doctoral degrees who have signed a statement expressing skepticism about Darwin's theory.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Immigration Meltdown

My show today was with Michelle Malkin on illegal immigration as it relates to bogus green cards, false ID papers and our military. She also talked about how illegals have an easier time qualifying for home loans than U.S. citizens do!

Also, the Mercury News reported today that the Mexican government is running full page ads in The New York Times, Washington Post and other newspapers, "acknowledging a shared responsibility to address illegal immigration: 'As your neighbor, we want to work with you to fashion a solution.'"

The solution? "The U.S. should allow Mexico to participate in the 'design, management, supervision and evaluation' of a guest worker program that should cover 'the largest possible number of workers and their families' currently in the U.S. illegally." Read more HERE.

The ads also declare, "Mexico does not promote undocumented migration."

What? I guess they forgot about the guidebook they printed on how to cross the border and stay in the U.S. 'unobtrusively.' Read more

HOT OFF THE SHOW! China Threat

I hope you were able to catch my show today with David Chu on the China Threat. One of the things he talked about was the spying and nuclear threat Red China poses to America.

Frederick Stakelbeck, who we've also had on the show and whose column can be read in the Washington Times, Asia Times and others sent me the following note:

Hi Sharon, The European Union is working on a a new technology, Collaborative Business Items (CoBIs), that go beyond traditional RFID tags. The new sensor is "smart" and allows items to communicate with each other about their surroundings. Used primarily in shipping, "sensor nodes" may one day be implanted into humans.

Very scary, especailly if it comes to the U.S.

By the way, China just announced it will purchase 3 billion RFID tags by 2009.

Anti-Semitism on the Rise in Europe. Scary!

Why is anti-Semitism rising in Europe? Why does hatred toward the Jews exist?

Mein Kempf is a best-seller in Turkey today. Many in Europe still believe the lies perpetrated in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

And as the BBC reported last week, the Swedish newspaper, Sydsvenska Dagbladet, found the state of anti-Semitism rising...

"'Anti-Semitism is alive and well in Europe. Including in Sweden, which likes to see itself as unusually wise and unprejudiced'...The paper is most concerned that 15% of respondents wholly or partially agreed that 'Jews have too much influence in the world today. It is certainly alarming that the old myths of Jewish conspiracies and power over the economy, media and politics live on.'"
Last week a controversy arose over whether former German Chancellor Kohl had made anti-Semitic remarks, agreeing with Iran's President in denying the holocaust. He responded by confirming the story was bogus.

On the other hand, despite demonstrators in Paris protesting anti-Semitism over the killing of a 23-year-old French Jew by a Muslim youth gang last month, Legislator, Dominique Strauss-Kahn said, "Anti-Semitism is rising in our country."

Just this week the Boston Globe reported that in Bagneux, France little sympathy was shown regarding the death of Ilan Halimi, another young Jew, who was held captive, tortured and dumped in a vacant lot to die.

"It's too bad this happened, because we immigrants are always blamed. But Jews have all the money and power. Everyone knows this and resents them. That's why they have these problems," said Ibrahim Ag Ahmalou, a local resident.
This latest incident follows three other attacks on Jews by Arab and African immigrants in a suburb of Paris, and French Jews are concerned that anti-Semitism will increase there.

Why has there been such hatred toward the Jews? Because people believe lies. I even get mail from Americans who believe the Protocols of the Elders of Zion are true, even though there is much documentation to its false claims and source, which we have pointed to many times.

Why does man 'tolerate' anti-Semitism? For the same reason man tolerated slavery here in America, or tolerates slave-labor in China today...prejudice, pride, and a lack of understanding and valuing the inherit worth of all human beings. Whether it stems from 'religious belief' or the evil heart of man, it's wrong. Period.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! PreSchool for All - What There Not Telling Us

I've had lots of requests to put in writing what I talked about on the show today regarding Universal Preschool, or Rob Reiner's Preschool-for-All Initiative here in California, which if passes will more than likely come to your state. Please pass this on.

Preschool-for-All Initiative, California Prop 82

What's it about?

Sponsor: Actor Rob Reiner, Chair of First 5 Commission
-Will be on the June 2006 California Primary ballot
-Will establish "free" voluntary, half-day state/government-run preschools for all 4-year-olds regardless of want or need.
-Will be funded by taxing the top 1.7% of income earners in California, increasing taxes to 11% on individuals with taxable income of $400,000 / couples of $800,000 or more.
-Cost: $2.3 billion a year
-$8,000 per child which is more than some kindergarten through Grade12 schools pay for a full day.
-Requires all pre-school teachers to have a Bachelor’s Degree

-Claims kids who go to preschool will do better in kindergarten and elementary school, graduate from high school, attend college, get better jobs with higher salaries and become happy consumers who will be less likely to do drugs and commit crimes than those who don't go to preschool.
-Based on a RAND Corporation study (funded by the pro-universal-preschool Packard Foundation) claims for every $1 spent on preschool, society will get back $2.62 in long-term benefits such as better student performance and lower crime.

Reiner Initiative is Facing Problems:
-Senate leader Don Perata (D) withdrew his support for Proposition 82 saying it costs too much to provide state paid preschool to all 4-year-olds
-The LA Times called into question the campaign’s use of money
-Lawmakers have called for audits and investigations of spending by the First 5 California Commission which spent $23 million on television ads promoting preschool while Prop. 82 was qualifying for the ballot.
-State law prohibits the use of public funds for campaign activities
-Reiner has taken leave as chairman of the First 5 Commission after the the commission's use of public money was questioned.

Stanford University Findings:
-Analysis utilized data from 14,162 kindergartners and their parents and teachers.
-Children from poor families had gains in cognitive skills when attending preschools. Less evidence for youngsters from middle-class homes benefiting.
-Little is known about possible impacts from the duration (the age at which children enter preschool) or the intensity (hours enrolled each week) of attendance.
-Found that attending a preschool center prior to kindergarten raises early language, pre-reading skills and math skills by about 10 percent. It more than doubles for English-proficient Hispanic children compared with White children.
-Did not observe statistically significant gains in language and pre-reading skills for other children from lower-income families compared with their counterparts who remain at home with a parent.

Did find that attendance in preschool centers, even for short periods of time each week, hinders the rate at which young children develop social skills and display the motivation to engage classroom tasks.

University of California-In January, UC Santa Barbara researchers found that whatever student achievement gains can be attributed to preschool attendance largely evaporates after a few years in elementary school.

UC Berkeley-Professor Bruce Fuller issued a study last year that examined research on teacher education and preschool. Found that studies claiming to show a connection between teachers holding bachelor's degrees and better student performance were statistically and methodologically flawed.

Georgetown University-Professor William Gormley admits a universal pre-K program may or may not be the best path to school readiness. There is inconsistent evidence as to whether universal preschool helps improve the short-term performance of middle and upper-income children.

Another University of California-Study showed that even brief attendance in preschool hinders emotional development and motivation to learn. This confirms other studies showing increased behavior problems caused by out of home care.

Important Quotes:

Dr. Karen Effrem, pediatrician, and board member of the ICSPP (International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology): "There is a significant element of indoctrination in these programs as evidenced
by the Head Start national standards and the National Association for the
Education of Young Children standards that bring up issues of gender
identity, homosexuality, environmentalism, and social activism with three and
four year olds. Preschool does not raise test scores. Despite a
quadrupling of the number of four year olds attending preschool nationally
over the past 40 years, test scores in reading, math, and science have
remained stagnant over the same period.”

John Bruer, author of “The Myth of the First Three Years”, President of the James S. McDonnel Foundation: "Brain science has nothing to say about what happens to babies' brains when parents read to them. There's nothing wrong with reading, but in other cultures they're not as concerned with it as we are. We have to be careful in our attempts to use biology to justify our values. Human children thrive under a great variety of social and cultural conditions. Yes, kids should be ready to read when they start school. But starting at age 7 is not a biological constraint."

"Preschool for all is a seductive proposition, but the reality is that the purported benefits would likely be much less than what Rob Reiner and his cohorts are promising. And with experts arguing that Reiner’s cost estimate of $2 billion is way too low, universal preschool looks to be a very expensive bad idea."
-Lance T. Izumi, director of education studies and senior fellow in California studies at the Pacific Research Institute

"The schools cannot allow parents to influence the kind of values-education their children receive in school; that is what is wrong with those who say there is a universal system of values. Our (humanistic) goals are incompatible with theirs. We must change their values.“
-Paul Haubner, specialist for the N.E.A.

Little kids deserve a secure place to spend their days where they are encouraged to learn - especially in the first 5 years of life when their brains are growing rapidly. Have we forgotten that home is still a child's best "preschool" for the vast majority of American children?

Peter Singer & The Newest Religion?

Have you heard about the new religion? I’m not kidding…it’s the Universist Movement that has been getting a lot of coverage lately. It’s a religion of ‘unfaith’ the ‘unbible’ and answering the following life’s questions through human reason and experience:
Who am I?
Where did I come from?
Why am I here?
Where am I going?
What does it mean to be human?
Why does the universe exist.
If God exists, what are its intentions?

One person this religion reveres is Peter Singer who they call ‘the world's most recognized living philosopher to the people and is today our most influential thinker in the field of ethics.’

Here’s one of his quotes they have on their website:

"I think, in light of the effect that religion has on life in this country, that we need to go further and do something that is regarded as perhaps not really very polite or very respectful in this country, even perhaps offensive, but it's something that really needs to be done. And that is to challenge the idea of faith as a basis for one's belief and for the way one lives one's life."
Members of the Universist Movement are not the only people to follow Singer. Remember, we’ve talked a lot about Peter Singer on the show because he is the Princeton ‘bioethicist’ who advocates killing babies 3-6 months after birth if they are defective! This is called infanticide.

You can read documentation on Singer's positions and the outrageous worldview he is propagating that people are following at our Issues Library under Bioethics at http://www.changingworldviews.com/IssuesLibrary/bioethics.htm. You can also read more of his and other's quotataions at our Unbelievable Quotes page.

While fools follow fools never let it be said of us that we will ignore such foolishness.

Leprosy?

Leprosy still plaques people in the Middle East. In Abu Zaabal, Eqypt, home of the largest leper colony in the Middle East, you'll find a hospital, pre-school, a prison, and the adjoining village of Abdel Moneim Riad which is home to 3,000 people.

Started in the 1930s, the Abu Zaabal centre north of Cairo, hosts many who have recovered from the disease but decide to remain in order to live with family members who have leprosy, rather than return to their home towns where they were shunned by others because of their disease.

The disease is spread by a bacteria called mycobacterium leprae, which 'eats away' flesh and can destroy limbs.

As reported in Yahoo News:
Since 1985, 113 countries out of 122 countries where leprosy was classified as a problem have rid themselves of the disease.

Although there are nearly three million cases in the world, only 400,000 new cases were registered in 2004, according to the World Health Organisation.

In Egypt, leprosy has fallen from 60,000 cases in 1979 to 3,000 in 2005.

What' Going on at Saddam's Trial? Remember, They Lie

The trial of Saddam Hussein resumed today with three of the eight co-defendants testifying, which is to be followed by Saddam.

Everyone is denying guilt in the killing or arrests of 148 Shiites this trial is about, although Saddam said he sent them to his court and they executed the judgement.

See full coverage HERE and video of trial HERE.

"It is not a lie when you are ordered to lie."
– a senior Iraqi biological weapons official
Let's remember that 'they lie'...such as the following taken from "Aparatus of Lies: Executive Summary":

False Man-in-the-Street Interview
Journalists or visitors to Iraq are often witnesses to "spontaneous" outpourings of grief or anger by what appear to be common people, or hear stories about hardships supposedly caused by the United Nations economic sanctions. In one international news broadcast during Operation Desert Storm focusing on a missile that had struck near a civilian area, a woman posing as a casual passer-by spoke to the camera in fluent English about the "criminal bombing of Iraq." But American diplomats who had served in Iraq recognized her as Suha Turayhi, a career minister in the Iraqi foreign ministry.

In December 1998, when U.N weapons inspector Dr. Richard Spertzel became exasperated by Iraqi evasions and misrepresentations, he confronted Dr. Rihab Taha, the woman the Iraqis identified as the head of their biological weapons program and asked her directly, "You know that we know you are lying. So why do you do it?" She straightened herself up and replied, "Dr. Spertzel, it’s not a lie when you are ordered to lie."

Main Tools of Iraqi Disinformation
Staged suffering and grief
Co-location of military assets and civilians
Restricting journalists’ movements
False claims or disclosures
False man-in-the-street interviews
Self-inflicted damage
On-the-record lies
Covert dissemination of false stories
Censorship

Serbian Leader, Slobodan Milosevic Dies in Cell

UPDATE: 3/12/06 It's been determined that Milosevic died of heart attack

As reported by Reuters, the 'butcher of the Balkans' as he was called for presiding over the slaughter of more than 250,000 people, the former Yugoslavian leader was found dead in his cell yesterday, at a UN prison near the Hague. He was being tried for 66 counts of crimes against humanity including genocide.

He was 64 with a history of high blood pressure and heart disease. Milosevic's family and attorney voiced suspicion, and a full autopsy and toxicological examination will be conducted. Both his parents had committed suicide when he was a young man.

His attorney told reporters that the former Serb leader had told him the day before that he thought he was being poisoned, and said "Yesterday I informed the Russian embassy on behalf of Mr Milosevic about his claims that his health was being wilfully destroyed, and that this should be (investigated) by the Russians." Another prisoner died just before Milosevic.

Croatian president Stipe Mesic said: "It is a pity he didn't live to the end of the trial to get the sentence he deserved."

Many are saying that the death of Milosevic and the ineffective prosecution of Saddam Hussein show the need to streamline such trials. Milosevic had been on trial before the UN court in The Hague since February 2002, and as pointed out by Canada.com, "By comparison, the Allied tribunal at Nuremberg took less than a year to try, convict, sentence and hang the 10 top Nazi defendants following the Second World War."

UN Suggests Israelis, not Arabs, are the real terrorists

Disregarding Palestian aggression, the UN envoy wrote in a special report for next week's meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission, among many things that Israel's defense against attacks:
"Serve as a constant reminder to the people of Gaza that they remain occupied."
Of course, the 'people of Gaza' are now Palestinians since the Gaza pull-out of 8,000 Jews last August.

The South African lawyer, John Dugard, also said regarding Israel's security fence that it:
"Has come to symbolize Israeli territorial expansion and oppression."
Two years ago Dugard called Israel's defense efforts 'war crimes' but Article 28 of the Fourth Geneva Convention says differently.

Hamas: "No Use for Two-State Road Map"

A Hamas spokesman in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) told AFP, the French news agency, that Hamas rejects the two-state Road Map. Assad Farhat said Hamas considers the Road Map an "American Zionist program", in response to a Russian Foreign Minister's statement that Hamas has not turned down the Road Map.

Farhat said Hamas would only be willing to negotiate with Israel under the these conditions:

- "When Israel announces that it will retreat from the conquered territories of 1967
- releases the Palestinian [terrorist] prisoners
- stops its aggression against the Palestinian nation
- announces its willingness to solve the refugee problem [accepts the right of return of millions of Arabs into Israel

only then will we agree to negotiate."

Earlier Hamas rejected PA's Mahmoud Abbas' call to negotiate peace with Israel saying talks with the Jewish state would be a waste of time.

It is clear that Hamas is not interested in peace, but rather in sticking with it's militant mindset of their role in Israel's destruction. And they are going to be in charge of the PA government now?

UPDATE: Former German Chancellor UNLIKELY Denied Holocaust

In talking with my friend, Professor William Wagner, author of "How Islam Plans to Change the World" about the unbelievable chances the Chancellor of Germany would deny the holocaust, here is his reply: "I checked on your story about Helmut Kohl. I am sure that it is bogus. One source said that it was a statement taken out of context but this is also questioned. You must remember that it is against the law in both Austria and Germany to say that the Holocaust did not take place. There is an English scholar now spending three years in jail in Austria for saying such. If Kohl did say this he ould be in much trouble. I hope this helps."

As originally reported:

WorldNetDaily reported yesterday that former chancellor HelmutKohl, is quoted in Jomhouri Islami, a Farsi newspaper as saying, 'What Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said...was in our bosoms', speaking of Iran's President's denial of the holocaust.

"For years we wanted to say this, but we did not have the courage to speak out," the paper reported Kohl as saying when speaking to Iranian businessmen in Germany.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said, "If the killing of Jews in Europe is true and the Zionists are being supported because of this excuse, why should the Palestinian nation pay the price? The Islamic world should give up its policy of passivity and deal with the Palestinian issue more actively."

German bloggers are questioning the authenticity of this report saying it was made up for Iranian propaganda.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Hollywood & the Oscars - What a Statement!

Amazing! This Oscar season the most honored films were those that celebrate homosexuality -Brokeback Mountain, Transamerica, Capote, and display the bleeding-heart liberal mentality - Syriana, Munich. But the box office says a different story...the real picture of what the American movie-goer likes.

All Best Picture nominees ranked in the top 100 dollar movies of 2005, but none of them made the top 25. "Brokeback Mountain" ranked 26th in $'s with "Munich" 69th, "Good Night and Good Luck" 90th, and "Capote" 97th.

The top five box office films of 2005 were "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," "King Kong," "Star Wars," and "War of the Worlds."

Leslie Unger, a spokesperson for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, told CNSNews Service, "What we do and how our awards are determined has absolutely nothing to do with how a film does in terms of box office, so that's nothing that we would offer any comment on."

If you missed the Oscars, here's the list of the Winners

But if you want some really good reading see "Oscars for Osama" by one of my favorite commentators, Charles Krauthammer

Plus, my show today with James Hirsen on Hollywood and it's Left Coast liberal politics helps put things really into perspective. If you missed it you can listen online...
