9/11 at the Movies

It’s hard to believe that September 2006 will mark 5 years since the 9/11 terrorist attack on America. Is our nation ready to revisit this unthinkable tragedy on film?

I don’t know if you’ve seen the newly released movie Flight 93 yet, but President Bush did at the White House theater recently with relatives of some of the 40 passengers and crewmembers portrayed in the film. White House press secretary Tony Snow, who was also there said, "It has a very powerful ending. Its dead silence as the credits roll, and you had sounds of quiet sobbing in the room."

While my husband and I took in another movie last night we saw the preview of World Trade Center the movie to be released on August 9th, about the true story of John McLaughlin and William J. Jimenez, the last two survivors found under the rubble of Ground Zero and the rescuers who never gave up on them. It stars Nicolas Cage who plays one of these two NY port authority police officers.

Alot has happened since 9/11. Afghanistan and Iraq have had democratic elections. Saddam Hussein is on trial for crimes against humanity. Women are voting, girls are getting an education, and much more, despite the terrorist insurgents who do not want Iraq or any other Arab nation to be ruled by democracy, and are desperately trying to prevent the inroads of freedom into their tyrannical systems.

I’m not that old, but I remember the threat communism posed in the 80s before it fell, and I’ve done enough research and viewed enough documentaries to see what its like when dictators such as Hitler, with their desire for world domination, attack. We are witnessing the same thing today with radical Islamists who want Islam to dominate the world.

On a History Channel segment about Hitler the commentator stressed the fact that Westerners, especially, even when they read the facts and hear the bold, unashamed statements of those aspiring to rule the world, don’t really believe it until the aggression is in full swing and starring us in the face. Such is the case I believe with Iran’s President calling for Israel to be wiped off the map, and arrogant defiance to the world community regarding their nuclear facilities.

Author of "Islam's Plan to Change the World", Professor William Wagner, who I’ve had on the show several times, says the conflict between Islam and the West is not just a clash of cultures - it is a head-to-head confrontation between a religion intent on world dominance and a culture that doesn't understand this. I frankly don’t understand why we don’t understand, but perhaps as we view Flight 93 and World Trade Center it will sink in. I hope so. It’s crucial that we understand…this time.

Better Babies

Is this a crazy world, or what? Laying aside the obvious war on terror and illegal immigration insanity, there's...

Pedolphiles starting their own political party (more on this later).
The U.N. wanting to make homeschooling illegal in America.
Saddam Hussein has written a novel.
Oregon student newspaper runs picture of Jesus as a homosexual.

And...the growing 'acceptance' of designing babies...even a 'savior' child for a sick sibling, as Jennifer Lahl of the Center for Bioethics and Culture talks about in her article, "The Booming Better Baby Business" HERE. While you're there check out her new Capital Campaign website, '6,000'.

Jennifer also refers to Debra Spar, author from Harvard of "Baby Business - Elite Eggs, Designer Genes and the Thriving Commerce of Conception," all about the dollars this 'business' garners. Incredible.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING Quotes #3

"What is necessary for the use of land is not its private ownership, but the security of improvements. It is not necessary to say to a man, "this land is yours," in order to induce him to cultivate or improve it. It is only necessary to say to him, "what ever your labor or capital produces on this land shall be yours." -Henry George

"If Armageddon should take place and a disaster should happen, we can have an executive branch that is headed by an appointed Cabinet secretary...We could have a Senate of 100 members appointed by the governor of the respective states...And if we should amend the Constitution...then we would have an appointed House." -Cong. F. James Sensenbrenner

"You reproach us with planning to do away with your property. Precisely; that is just what we propose." -Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels

"Women have been the guardians of life—not because we are better or purer or more innately nurturing than men, but because the men have busied themselves making war." -Code Pink

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Illegal Immigration 'Backlash'

Unfortunately, what conservatives and Minutemen and illegal immigration watchdog groups haven't been able to accomplish in terms of getting any real action from Congress or the President on illegal immigration, the aftermath (or backlash) of illegal alien protests and the May Day Boycott did.

What do I mean? The Polls. Seems to be the strongest voice the American people have? Irrate, concerned and focused as a result of seeing the mentality and boldness of the millions of illegal aliens in our country, citizens are not happy and want action, now! Thus, President Bush makes his speech declaring to control the border and to send 6,000 National Guard to the southern border. Now the debate is front and center, where it should have been all along.

Our show today on the issue was strong and focused as Resa Kirkland joined Audrey Russo and I for WOMANTalk Friday. Resa's one bold woman, dubbed America's WarChick by the Korean War Vets. We also talked about our U.S. port vulnerabilities.

If you missed it, you can still hear it online.

Let me know what you think on this issue.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Al Gore the Global Warming Movie 'Star'

Al Gore with producer Laurie David at premiere of "An Inconvenient Truth" in Los Angeles.

Al Gore's new film on global warning, An Inconvenient Truth, in which he plays the role of himself, itinerant lecturer, has the pundits debating: "Does this mean he is gearing up to run in 2008?" Pegged as the now sweetheart of the far left of the democrat party, and given he has enough money to run without any donations (as one of Google's top guys). But what I find very interesting is that it would be the first time that not only a woman would seriously run for the Presidency, but her husband's former Vice President would be running against her!

I had to laugh at Time's sub-title to their article on the subject: "His new documentary on global warming is a great campaign ad: 'Elect me or we will all die'" and this...

"Even by Washington standards, the D.C. premiere of Al Gore's new global warming film, An Inconvenient Truth, was lit by some very low-wattage celebrities: political journalists, Congressmen, people from National Public Radio."
Think about it. Should he run against Hillary it would be fascinating to watch! And much more exciting than his film, I am confident.

Kent Shocknet weighed on the cost (in dollars and 'effect on the environment') for the 30 buses hauling 1500 students to see the movie. Funds were anonymously donated evidently. Wonder by whom?

You can see the trailer HERE...if you want.

FOX News has a special this weekend on global warming interviewing experts on the issue. I'm sure there will be many more to follow.

Oh, and did I mention that it's an 'alarming' film? That only the most radical scientists are the 'experts' and that the majority of scientists reject the film's 'story-line'?

In the meantime, you can catch my show today with Wesley J. Smith of the Discovery Institute talking about another extremist mentality, PETA and the radical animal rights movement. He brought some very provocative thoughts to the issue in regards to where we are headed in the human/animal value debate.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING Weekly Quotes #2

Phil Donahue: “Let me tell you what is impressive. You’re not wearing a flag...I say hip-hip-hooray for that..." Tom Brokaw: “...I think if you wear a flag, it’s a suggestion somehow that you’re endorsing what the administration is doing at the time. And I don’t think journalists ought to be wearing flags.” Donahue: “And I say hear, hear, hear.” -Exchange on MSNBC’s Donahue

We succeeded, with Allah's grace, to raise an ideological generation that loves death like our enemies love life. We will not abandon the way of Jihad and Shahada [Martyrdom] as long as one inch of our holy land is in the hands of the Jews. - Video on Hamas website, December 12, 2005

"I don't think you'd have to kill, assassinate too many. I think for five lives, 10 lives, 15 human lives, we could save a million, 2 million, or 10 million non- human lives." -Dr. Jerry Vlasak of North American Animal Liberation

"It’s not our responsibility as local police to implement these Nazi-style actions in the United States and just go around taking people off the street who may be undocumented. Immigration is a federal civil matter. Its not our role. Politically, it may not be the best thing to do, to talk like this. But I don’t fear that. My position is to ensure that everyone can reach the American Dream.” -Mayor Robert Patten, Hightstown, New Jersey

President's Speech on Border Control

I really would like to hear from you about what you thought of the President's speech tonight on the illegal immigration/border security issue, rather than write about it. So, please let me hear from you either by email, or taking our poll on the sidebar. In the meantime, here are just a couple of highlights and links:

From President's remarks:
-fradulent ID cards make it difficult for employers
-vast majority of illegals are decent people/are a part of American life, but are beyond the reach of the law
-America can be lawful and welcoming
-must secure our borders, while being open to trade and lawful immigration
-will increase funding for manpower and technolody/by 2008 increase border patrol by 6,000
-immedite step is to use the National Guard - 6,000 for l year to assist the border patrol
-willnot militarize our borders
-Mexico is our friend
-85% of illegals entering U.S. are Mexicans which we send back/'catch & release' into our society other 15% rather than send back to their countries to appear for court date
-walls will not stop illegals/wants a temporary workers program to create a legal path to citizenship
-match willing with willing employers
-will need criminal background check, pay taxes, learn english, work at job for years, then can apploy for citizenship 'at the end of the line' of those already waiting
-hold employers accountable
-new ID card for all workers/biometric fingerprint
-have to face reality millions are already here
-he opposes amnesty
-disagress with deporting all illegals back
-need reasoned and respectful tone; cannot build unity by inciting; every human being has value no matter what citizenship papers say

Other information:
Senate bill re citizenship for illegals - here for
5 years = automatic
2-5 years = on the path
under 2 years = go home

62% of Americans want the borders secured now! Only 38% oppose putting military on the border

Most commentators following the speech say 6,000 National Guard is too small an amount. Rep. Peter King, NY says New York City has 35,000 policemen alone.

Bill O'Reilly says the Senate is afraid of:
-Left-wing press
-Hispanic lobby
-and that big business does not want border security

Greta Van Susteren at the border said:
-the 6,000 would be welcome but are not enough
-that there is nothing to stop anyone from walking across the border

Cong. Tom Tancredo said:
-Do not pass anything that resembles the Senate bill
-the House passes a bill every year, but the Senate votes it down
-that 'to secure the border we need a worker program' is not true

Cong. Peter King from NY said:
-6,000 not enough National Guard, New York City has 35,000 policemen alone

Both agreed to go after the employers/if illegals can't get a job, they'll go home

Michelle Malkin disagreed with Bill O'Reilly on FOX News following the speech. See her commentary here.

UCLA Professor, Raul Hinojosa and VP of National La Raza Cecilia Munoz both spoke favorably of the President's speech being 'comprehensive'

...worrisome that they liked it to say the least...

Hinojosa as written up in Business Week:

A former adviser to President Bill Clinton and an early architect of the North American Development Bank, the principal financing institution for the North American Free Trade Act (NAFTA), Hinojosa argues immigrants from Mexico and other Latin American countries are the threads that inextricably knit the U.S. and its southern neighbors together -- and prop up a labor market desperate for cheap workers.

Indeed, Hinojosa, a fast-talking, pony-tailed graduate of University of Chicago's PhD program, is cashing in on the boom in illegal immigration himself. His startup, No Borders Inc., pedals debit-like cards on which immigrants can store cash, send money home to Mexico, make phone calls, and join medical discount plans

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Celebrating 3 Years
First Guests - Gary Aldrich

We're celebrating 3 yrs on the air this month and thought it would be fun to take a listen back at a few of my very first shows. Todays show was with Gary Aldrich, former White House Sr. FBI Agent and author of the blockbuster, Unlimited Access, that was really the first book to blow the lid off the Clinton White House. He is also the founder of the Patrick Henry Center, and was our Inside Washington correspondent for our first year. He talked about his second book, Thunder on the Left...basically the 'take over' of the democrat party by the hard-left, to the dismay of mainstream democrats. I met Gary when he came out to speak to the Red, White and Blue annual Ball in 2002 of an organization I was president of at the time, and he was one of the first guests I had on my radio show.

I think you will find the things he had to say provocative for today, and recommend his books to you. You can get Thunder on the Left at a discounted price at Changing Worldviews here.

To All the Moms - Happy Mother's Day

To all mothers who lost sons or daughters in the cause of freedom, my deepest appreciation.

To all single moms who carry the double-load of parenting, my greatest admiration.

To all young mothers, married or single, who chose to give life when circumstances or those around them pushed to do otherwise, my applause.

There is no greater role or responsibility than that of mother.

~~ The Images of Mother ~~
4 YEARS OF AGE My Mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either!
16 YEARS OF AGE Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.
18 YEARS OF AGE That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE Wish I could talk it over with Mom...

~~ Beauty of a Woman ~~
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears,
The figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
The passion that she shows.
The beauty of a woman
With time, only grows..

Tell your mom how much you appreciate her...before you no longer can.

The Da Vinci Delusion Counters Movie Claims

Author of the DaVinci Code, Dan Brown, told about 850 people at a sold-out writers talk, "Let the biblical scholars and historians battle it out. It's a book about big ideas, you can love them or you can hate them. But we're all talking about them, and that's really the point."

And so there have been several books written to confront the claims made in the DaVinci Code, and countless debates which have increased as the release date for the movie based on Brown's book approaches next week.

We've interviewed Richard Abanes, cult expert and author of "The Truth Behind the DaVinci Code" on the show, which I recommend for anyone who is taking The DaVinci Code seriously.

And I highly recommend viewing "The Da Vinci Delusion", a production by broadcaster Dr. D. James Kennedy, who enlisted a band of scholars, theologians, and authors to fact check The Da Vinci Code in the new one-hour television documentary, The Da Vinci Delusion. The program airs May 13, 14 nationwide—just days before The Da Vinci Code movie debuts worldwide.

Shot in Paris, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and elsewhere, The Da Vinci Delusion features 15 experts, Protestant and Catholic, who test Da Vinci Code assertions against evidence from history and the Bible.

The roster of fact checkers includes Paul Maier, professor of ancient history at Western Michigan University; Darrell Bock, New Testament scholar at Dallas Theological Seminary; Kerby Anderson, president of Probe Ministries; Janet Parshall, host of Janet Parshall’s America; William Donohue, president of the Catholic League; Peter Jones, coauthor of Cracking Da Vinci’s Code; Erwin Lutzer, author of The Da Vinci Deception; Sandra Miesel, Catholic journalist and medievalist; Gary Habermas, author of The Historical Jesus; and Lee Strobel, coauthor of Exploring the Da Vinci Code.

“Although The Da Vinci Code is a murder mystery novel, it claims to be based on facts, and those so-called facts attack the very heart of Christianity,” said Dr. Kennedy, the author of more than 65 books and one of America’s most-watched television ministers.

See stations and times here. Let me know what you think.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Activist Moms on Mother's Day

Our WOMANTalk radio Special for Mother's Day airs Friday - Sunday at Oneplace.com in case you missed it at our regular time on the air. We talked about the gun control efforts of groups such as Million Mom March and other groups, such as...

Anti-war activist moms, Code Pink, which are gathering in Washington DC on Mother's Day for a 24-hour vigil outside the White House. They say they "will be joined by amazing celebrity actresses, singers, writers, and moms, including Cindy Sheehan, Patch Adams, and Susan Sarandon!" and to, "Bring your mother, children, grandmothers, friends, and loved ones."

They are also writing letters to Laura Bush "to appeal to her own mother-heart," and will be publishing it as “Letters to Laura.”

We can understand the pain of losing a son to war, but many of these groups exploit a mother's grief for political gain, and that's never okay.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Minnesota Secretly Screens Preschoolers for Mental Health

Dr. Karen Effrem joined me on the show to talk about the universal mental health screening that is being pushed across the nation. She has spoken before legislatures and done much writing on the subject. It was an excellent show today in terms of the information she shared, such as:

Universal preschool mental health screening is not based on objective medical tests, as advocates would have us believe. It assesses ìbehaviorsî and leads to inaccurate and dangerous labeling of children for normal childhood behaviors. It increases already excessively high over-diagnosis and over-medication of children, especially of boys and minorities.

In the meantime, EdWatch has discovered that, in spite of the unexpected defeat of mental health screening last year, the Minnesota Department of Education has forged ahead with mental health screening for preschoolers anyway. In the absence of the failed law that would have authorized preschool screening for socioemotional [mental health] development, the Department references an obsolete administrative rule as its legal authority. That rule is obsolete, because the statute authorizing it was repealed in 1989.

Relying on an obsolete state administrative rule, both the Departments of Health and Education have begun implementing universal preschool mental health screening, in spite of its legislative defeat last year.

They have an ACTION ITEM:
Call Minnesota's Governor (651) 296-3391 and Commissioner Seagren (651) 582-8204. Tell them:

~Immediately stop the illegal and costly mental health screening of preschoolers;
~Hold those implementing it responsible;
~Urgently resolve this serious violation of the public trust.

Netanyahu on Iran & Hamas

Benjamin Netanyahu was on FOX News' Neil Cavuto show today. When asked if he thought Iran wants to use nuclear power for peaceful purposes, Netanyahu's response was, "Are you kidding? They have oil coming out of their nostrils." That they don't need nuclear technology for energy. They've said what they want to do with Israel - wipe it off the map. They want to use nuclear weapons to threaten and expand terrorism, and get control of oil and Arab nations.

When asked about Israel giving more territory to Hamas he said it doesn't/won't work. Iran's president's greatest fans are Hamas, which wants Israel destroyed. He told Neil that only when we see Hamas' suicide kindergarten camps, the sermons to destroy Israel stopped in their mosques, etc. then perhaps some serious talking could begin.

Asked if he would like to be Israel's Prime Minister again, he responded, "Someday." Which would be tremendous.

Watch the FOX News video of Netanyahu here.

If it doesn't work, go here.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING! Weekly Quotes #1

"The major function of the school is the social orientation of the individual. It must seek to give him understanding of the transition to a new social order." -Willard Givens, Executive Secretary, National Education Association, 1934

"But when you volunteer for the U.S. military, you pretty much know you're not going to be fending off invasions from Mexico and Canada. So you're willingly signing up to be a fighting tool of American imperialism, for better or worse. Sometimes you get lucky and get to fight ethnic genocide in Kosovo, but other times it's Vietnam." -Joel Stein, LA Times Journalist

"On behalf of the Latino community, the term 'illegal immigrant' serves to dehumanize the person, makes them less than human. Similar to the way the n-word was used to dehumanize African-Americans." - Illegal immigrant activist Jerry Gonzalez

"Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our Founding Fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It's up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well - by creating the international child of the future." -Professor Chester M. Pierce, M.D., Professor of Education and Psychiatry at Harvard

Today is the National Day of Prayer

President Bush, praying on the National Day of Prayer, in the White House along with Father Charles Conner and Rabbi Sholom Ciment: America, Honor God was the theme.

President Bush says "America is a nation of prayer" that it's "impossible to tell the story of our nation without telling the story of people who pray."
See the President's Proclamation

Antagonists celebrated the National Day of Reason.

Which is dummer being against the Day of Prayer? Or celebrating International Respect for Chicken Day?

Seriously, I hope you don't forget to carve out some time to pray. Our nations needs it more, perhaps, more than ever before.

Israel's New Prime Minister - Picks center-left government

Just as baffling to Americans regarding how our government is handling, or rather not handling, the illegal immigration/border control situation here, is Israel's leaders continuing to think giving up more of their land will appease the Palestinian Authority and terrorist organizations and nations that are calling for Israel's destruction!

Israel's new Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert's new government is more liberal than Israel has had in years, and Olmert says he "intends to draw Israel's final borders by 2010 and pull out from parts of the West Bank as well." Read more of the story here.

I don't get it. Israel has continually given up more and more land and still their enemy is not satisfied. What makes them think things will change when conditions remain the same?

Most Americans have heard about end times prophecies in the Bible. The prophecies contain information on what the 'last days' will look like. And it all revolves around Israel.

Read more on Israel's 'new' government here.

More Pictures / Video of Illegals' Boycott

VIDEO: LA Times has Protest Scenes From the Street

Michelle Malkin blogged the day here

Times online has article: "See if you can cope without us, Protesting Latinos tell America."

First of all, it's reported that the economy was little effected by the boycott, which foiled one of their goals. And as far as gaining sympathy for their cause - no borders, no increased border control, amnesty for all, the next few weeks will tell, but if what those who are telling me and much of talk radio is representative of the public, Americans are not happy at all. We still value the rule of law and disagree heavily with illegals demanding what is not their's to demand.

(Thanks to Michelle Malkin for most of the pictures above)

I'm recording a show tomorrow on the subject which should air next Monday.

May Day! - The Day Latinos Boycotted America

Well, it happened. It was reported that over a million latinos boycotted America today. From the Washington Post:

"More than 300,000 demonstrators marched in Chicago, and another 300,000 took to the streets of Los Angeles to shout their disapproval of House measures that would make it a felony to be in the country illegally and to help those who are...More than half of the 1,147 construction workers on projects at Dulles International Airport did not show up."

Times Online headlined the day with:
"See if you can cope without us, protesting Latinos tell America: In one of the biggest protests since the Civil Rights era, Una Dia Sin Immigrantes (A Day Without Immigrants) closed meat-packing plants, restaurants, vineyards and hotels, as Latino immigrants, waving US and Mexican flags and holding aloft banners proclaiming “We are workers, not criminals!” filled more than 60 cities. Tyson Foods, the world’s largest meat producer, shut five of its nine beef plants and four of its six pork factories. Perdue Farms, America’s third-largest chicken producer, closed eight of its fourteen plants."

In California, Sonoma County's Gallo Wines gave the day off to their 150 Hispanic employees. And McDonald’s said because several of their locations were operating with limited crews, they would be open for shorter hours or with a drive-through service only. 14 million of the 33 million Californians are Hispanic.

The LA Times has a video of the demonstrations here:

Michelle Malkin blogged the day here

Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) told the Reuters news, "I couldn't be happier, because every single time this kind of thing happens, the polls show that more and more Americans turn against the protesters and whatever it is they are trying to advance."

Illegals demonstrating, demanding, protesting. Claiming America is their land; some warning they are 'taking it back,' others demanding equal rights. What's wrong with this picture? Illegal = ILLEGAL. What part of this is hard to understand?

HOT OFF THE SHOW! The NEA's Political Agenda Exposed for What it is

Teachers forced to Pay Union Dues
Teachers Forced to Accept Monopoly Union Representative
Teachers Free to Choose or Reject Union Representation and Membership
This map is provided by the NATIONAL RIGHT TO WORK COMMITTEE

Confirming what my guest, Orlean Koehle, President of California Eagle Forum, who reported on her week-long attendance at the last NEA convention, had to say on the show today about the political agenda of the National Education Assn, WSJ.com the Opinion Journal of the Wall Street Journal wrote the following:

"Teachers' Pets
If we told you that an organization gave away more than $65 million last year to Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Amnesty International, AIDS Walk Washington and dozens of other such advocacy groups, you'd probably assume we were describing a liberal philanthropy. In fact, those expenditures have all turned up on the financial disclosure report of the National Education Association, the country's largest teachers union.

Under new federal rules pushed through by Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, large unions must now disclose in much more detail how they spend members' dues money. Big Labor fought hard (if unsuccessfully) against the new accountability standards, and even a cursory glance at the NEA's recent filings--the first under the new rules--helps explain why. They expose the union as a honey pot for left-wing political causes that have nothing to do with teachers, much less students." (Used with permission from OpinionJournal.com, a web site from Dow Jones & Company, Inc).

The NEA Convention opened with its Head saying the NEA is where every voice is heard. That's every voice except the conservative voice. Orlean told of how out of the 90+ resolutions before the delegates only one conservative resolution was heard, the rest were tabled. Too much to write about here, but you can hear about the resolutions that were acted upon, the vast majority of which had nothing to do with education!

Anyone surprised?

Nevertheless, National Teachers Appreciation Day is observed this week, so be sure to thank a teacher who made a difference in your life or has been a positive influence on your child's life. Not all teachers support the NEA's positions.
