HOT OFF THE SHOW! Censoring Christmas this Year

My guest on the show Wednesday was Rabbi Aryeh Spero of Caucas for America, and fellow Rightalk.com radio broadcaster. He's a staunch supporter of keeping Christianity in Christmas. A Jew standing up for Christmas! He talked about why.

While Walmart, Macy's and Kohl's have relented of their banning Merry Christmas this year, Best Buy and others such as Crate&Barrel, Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, Bath & Body Works and Neiman Marcus haven't joined their ranks. They are banning or continuing to ban Christmas from their stores this year. What’s the matter with them, you’d think they’d learn from the other stores that got hit hard in sales last year. It’s a high price to pay for political correctness. What are they thinking?

But, this is about more than Christmas, isn’t it? It’s about Christianity. Materialism aside, Christmas is the zenith, if you will, of public acknowledgement and observance of what Christianity is about. And for those who say that isn’t so recent polls show...

~95 percent of Americans celebrate Christmas (Fox News/Opinion Dynamics).
~90 percent of Americans recognize Christmas as the birthday of Jesus Christ (Gallup).
~88 percent of Americans say it is okay for people to wish others "Merry Christmas" and the majority of Americans are more likely to wish someone they just met "Merry Christmas" rather than "Happy Holidays" (CNN/USA Today/Gallup).
~87 percent of Americans believe nativity scenes should be allowed on public property (Fox News/Opinion Dynamics).

Yet because of political correctness and threats of lawsuits from the ACLU, Christmas is increasingly under attack. And the courts are agreeing with wrong interpretations of the lst Amendment - "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." But they seem to leave out - "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." This is not what the Founding Fathers had in mind...this is an agenda, and proof that the courts are in step with the far-left ACLU?

In Wired Magazine Gary Wolf wrote recently about "The Church of the Non-Believers" -that a band of intellectual brothers is mounting a crusade against belief in God. He quoted Richard Dawkins Professor at Oxford and leader of the New Atheism movement who said, "I think we're in the same position the gay movement was in a few decades ago. There was a need for people to come out. The more people who came out, the more people had the courage to come out. I think that's the case with atheists. They are more numerous than anybody realizes." Dawkins looks forward to the day when the first US politician is honest about being an atheist. He says, "Highly intelligent people are mostly atheists. Not a single member of either house of Congress admits to being an atheist. It just doesn't add up. Either they're stupid, or they're lying. And have they got a motive for lying? Of course they've got a motive! Everybody knows that an atheist can't get elected."

Only 3% of the American population is atheist...it’s amazing how such a small minority can make so many waves...don't you think?

For a list of the stores we've found so far that are banning Christmas this year go to ChangingWorldviews.com and scoll down to the Take Action Box.

"What Does Hillary Think?" About Abortion

"What does Hillary think?" These are the words in 1993 of then President Bill Clinton, regarding abortion legislation, as recently disclosed papers by Judicial Watch show. Her strong pro-choice position shaped the Clinton administration's policy on this issue. Has she changed her position?

LifeNews.com reports: "The Clinton Archives contains a May 1993 memo from Domestic Policy Council staffer Bill Galston to President Bill Clinton, which includes a two-page discussion of the Hyde Amendment, weighing legislative tactics, public opinion and political strategy. It ends with President Bill Clinton’s handwritten question, “What does Hillary think?” next to the “decision” section of the memo."

Many papers were obtained that show former First Lady, now Senator Hillary Clinton, was instrumental in decisions made on the abortion issue, including a strong pro-federal funding of abortion. Judicial Watch released the papers as Hillary is increasingly minimizing her strong pro-choice stance in public speeches as a possible 2008 presidential candidate.

But, has she changed her position? Well, here in California she helped Planned Parenthood with taped phone messages sent to more than 250,000 households during the November elections advocating a 'No' vote on Prop 85, the parental notification ballot proposition. Her phone message? An echo of the abortion businesses talking points against the measure:

"We are opposed because 85 will put our most vulnerable teens at risk — teens who may already be endangered by negligent or even abusive homes. We can do better. Let's work together to protect all our children."

Although Hillary Clinton has tried to change her public image on abortion, her true position, particularly on the issues of Prop 85, puts her at odds with about 70 percent of the American public.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Why We Adopted

with son Johnny

We re-aired Why We Adopted on Monday's show since Tuesday's LIVE show is not archived. If you missed it I talked about November as National Adoption Month and why my husband and I adopted. Though given an annual Presidential proclamation and known to the pro-life and adoption communities, it’s hard to find press coverage on this observance. Why?

Surely there must be folks in the liberal media establishment who have adopted children and would want to promote it. Or does being pro-choice mean the adoption link to the culture of life worldview is too detrimental to the abortion agenda?

It couldn’t be because they don’t care about the 5 million children around the world who are orphaned or the 100,000 children in America who are waiting for families to adopt them, right?

As families made plans and pies and all the fixings for their Thanksgiving, wouldn’t it have been great for the media to report on the need of homes for these children? How about coverage on some of the unnecessary bureaucratic red tape that keeps prospective parents waiting and waiting to give a home to family-less children?

Listeners gave feedback that they never even knew there was such a thing as National Adoption Month. No wonder.

I am really for adoption. What about you?

HOT OFF THE SHOW! - Oil Dependency's Roots

Click on picture to see trailer

My guest on today's show was nine-time Pulitzer Prize Nominee, Edwin Black, to talk about his latest book, “Internal Combustion” - How corporations and governments addicted the world to oil and derailed the alternatives. Did we ever really need to be on oil? And how can we get off our dependency on it? Our guest says “It’s not about green, it’s about greed.”

Some powerful information. Let me know what you think.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! - Green Take-Over of City Councils?

Here in SF Bay area a Green Party candidate who had no name recognition, the least money and a grassroots campaign led fellow environmentalists Gayle McLaughlin surprised everyone with her lead in the race for Mayor of Richmond City Council. Her previous political experience consisted of picketing Chevron. Nov. 7th she became one of the first Green Party members ever to win a seat on a city council in Contra Costa County. "I will be but one voice, but I'm part of a much larger movement," said McLaughlin. "I will continue to take a stand whether Chevron likes it or not.

Here's just a few Greens who won City Council seats on Nov. 7th:

Mike Beilstein
Oregon

George Grosch
Oregon

Alice Hardesty
Oregon

Eric Navickas
Oregon

Kevin Donoghue
Maine

David Marshall
Maine

Gayle McLaughlin
California – Richmond

Lynda Deschambault
California - Moraga
Larry Robinson
California - Sebastopol

Lauren Sinott
California - Mendocino

Dona Spring
California - Berkeley

Leroy Schafer
Minnesota

Bob Jacobson
Hawaii

Matt Keefauver
Colorado

Several others in Minneapolis, including Young who won a fifth term (third as a Green), and Cam Gordon who ran on the Green commitment to what she calls the "three E's: environment, economics and social equity, the three legs of the stool called sustainability." She said, "I also won as a complete and total Green; everyone knows it and knew it. I am a founding member of the state party, former state chair (as recent as 2002) and founding chair of the local Minneapolis/Fifth District Green Party. I ran with the Green principles front and center."

And Greens won not just city council seats but also positions on...

Board of Supervisors
School Board
City Commissions
Neighborhood councils
County Commissioner
Fire District

In Maryland at a Unity Convention at University of Baltimore, Green, Libertarian and Populist Parties joined forces to back Kevin Zeese for U.S. Senate

In Seattle Aaron Dixon, a community activist and former Black Panther ran as Green for U.S. Senate from the state of Washington

And Michael Berg, whose son Nick was beheaded in Iraq, ran as Green Party candidate for U.S. House seat in Delaware.

Will continue to follow this green grassroots movement. Please help raise awareness on this...it's not going away.

Tuesday's show is live and can only be heard on KDIA AM1640 San Francisco, and online at KDIA.com. at4:30 pm PST.

California Refuses to Protect its Daughters

Click on picture to view video about Diana Lopez, a desperate mother trying to see her daughter at Planned Parenthood facility - something Prop 85 would have prevented.

It was a tight race for Proposition 85, California’s parental notification for abortion initiative, but California’s voters failed to pass it on election night. This is the second time California has rejected the very common sense security of parents being notified before their minor daughter undergoes an abortion. With a barrage of TV ads funded by Planned Parenthood, and phones messages from Hillary Clinton…

Planned Parenthood enlisted the New York Senator to campaign in California by sending specially recorded messages to over 250,000 Californians advocating a NO vote on Prop 85.

Pre-election polls conducted by Datamar, Inc. showed 46.3 percent of California residents support Prop. 85 while 45.2 percent oppose it. The actual vote: 53 against 46 for Prop 85.

Oregon state had a similar proposition on their ballot and also failed to pass it with 54 percent voting against and 45 percent voting for parental notification.

It’s beyond comprehension that voters in California and Oregon would reject allowing parents of teenage girls at least to be notified before their daughter has an abortion.

According to YesonProposition85, Planned Parenthood budgeted as much as $4.8 million for their television ad campaign against Prop 85 and amassed over $15.6 million to defeat the Parents’ Right to Know and Child Protection Initiative.

The Election - A Vote Against Republicans

Well, I've surfaced after all the election flurry and aftermath analysis, and all I can say is two things:

-This election was not a vote for the Democrats. It was a vote against the Republicans, and the war.

Let me point out as Sean Hannity brought out yesterday:
FDR lost 71 in the House, 6 in the Senate
Eisenhower lost 47 in the House, 13 in the Senate
Johnson lost 47 in the House, 3 in the Senate
Nixon lost 43 in the House, 3 in the Senate
All in their 6th year as President in war time.

-This election was not about rejecting the 'far right religious' wing of the Republican Party, that's always blamed for election losses. Not even an issue on the radar screen. As a matter of fact we saw more Democrats talk about their faith than Republicans this time around. It was about rejecting Republicans who failed to secure the borders, a huge issue with the majority of Americans, for out of control spending. Even Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center said the Democrats used to be called the 'tax and spend' party, but now the Democrats are the 'tax' party and the Republicans are the 'spend' party. And it was about voters believing the anti-war rhetoric of the liberal politicians and media.

So now...with Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and Harry Reid in charge of the Senate both talking about working together in a bi-partisan way...we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

So much is being written and said about the results I'll leave it here. But in the days and weeks and months to come there will be plenty to talk about...especially how much the two parties will really work together on the war, on immigration et al.

THE BRIGHT SPOT: While very little went the conservative way here in California, especially Prop 85 and 90, gay marriage bans and eminent domain props passed all over the country.

Now, will the Republicans wake up to realize who their base really is? I'm hoping so.

Will the sleeping giant of traditional, pro-family Americans wake up and be ready for the battle of 2008 for the White House? I'm going on record as saying that I believe it will be one of the biggest battles of our time.

We gave our post-election analysis on Wednesday's show, as well as discussed the death sentance of Saddam Hussein.

From a listener, Richard:
"The person who does not get involved in the political process, at least enough to vote, is destined to be ruled by lesser people.

Former president Calvin Coolidge put it another way: “If the people fail to vote, a government will be developed which is not their government... The whole system of American Government rests on the ballot box. Unless citizens perform their duties there, such a system of government is doomed to failure.” —Calvin Coolidge

We shouldn't have to convince ourselves that we don't have enough time. Soldiers have left their families and traveled halfway around the world for months and years on end, putting their lives at risk, so we could have the precious right and privilege to vote. If those same soldiers can put themselves in harm's way in places like Iwo Jima, Southeast Asia, Normandy, Iraq and Afghanistan, we can take the relatively few minutes it takes to vote!"

GO THE EXTRA MILE: Call 10 like-minded voters to get out to vote tonight and tomorrow. Start offer to drive them to the polls if needed. So much counts on your extra effort this election season.

More Election Coverage on Thursday - What's at Stake, Values Voters?

Thursday on our Rightalk.com show - Values voters elected the first Republican Congress in 40 years. Will they hold on to it in this election 5 days from now? Traditional family values are being put to the test as never before. What’s at stake if the San Francisco values of wanna-be Speaker Nancy Pelosi take over Congress? If values voters stay home on election day?

How a Marxist would vote: This comment is from a Marxist reader/listener. As scary as it is to think there are people in America who think this way (I'm always amazed), at least they're reading and listening!

"What is the color of the kool - aid you drink. I'd vote for Hugo (Chavez) or Mahmoud (Ahmadinejad) for Prez of the USA before any body else running.” –Mark, in response to Sharon’s column
