Physician-assisted suicide bill passes California Judiciary Committee

Well, they did it. The California Democrat-controlled Assembly Judiciary Committee passed AB374 approving doctor assisted suicide in California.

We talked about it last week and Monday of this week on the show trying to encourage folks to contact members of the committee to oppose the bill...now we have to turn to the Governor.

CONTACT THE GOVERNOR You can demand that Governor Schwarzenegger announce his opposition to AB 374

See who voted for and against AB374 here.

Randy Thomasson of the Campaign for Children and Families in California stated:

"Doctors must be healers, not killers. Depressed patients need love, family, spiritual counsel, and proven pain medication, not handed what amounts to a gun to the head. AB 374 must not become law. Because HMOs are the controlling force for so many physicians, it's inevitable that hospitals and hospices would soon view patients as more expensive alive than dead."

"The compassionate answer for terminal patients is effective pain management, not suicide. God created us, and no innocent human being between womb and tomb deserves to be murdered, no matter what it's called. Legalizing so-called 'voluntary' suicide today will lead to involuntary suicide tomorrow, as demonstrated by the ongoing Netherlands tragedy."

"What a horrifying nightmare to hear a nurse come up to you and say 'the doctor will kill you now.' Governor Schwarzenegger shouldn't allow himself or anyone else to play God. He should pledge to veto this 'Dr. Death' bill without delay."

If you agree with Randy call the governor today. Don't think someone else will...be counted on the side of right on this.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! - Olbermann, Morano & 'Gore Smear'

Keith Olbermann, on his MSNBC television show, accused Marc Morano, Communications Director, U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, working for Sen. Inhoffe, for putting out a smear campaign against Al Gore after the former VP testified on Capitol Hill last week on global warming. The former Sr. Staff writer for CNSNews sent out a news release telling of Gore's refusal to take an oath to cut his own energy use. Olbermann called it a 'right-wing venomous campaign' against Gore, pointing out that Marc Morano is a former producer of Rush Limbaugh's television program.

Al & Tipper Gore's home uses 20 x's the energy of the average American household, and when challenged by Sen. Inhoffe to basically practice what he preaches Gore refused to even answer.

We talked about this and much more regarding some of the extreme views and scare tactics of the global warming advocates.

Did you know that there are people who are going to therapists to get treated for something new - eco-anxiety? One therapist says she sees 40-80 patients a months for this serious global warming fear.

Now, let's see...who's to blame for this?

Selling Human Eggs for Cloning - Feinstein/Hatch Bill

S. 812, the Feinstein/Hatch U.S. Senate bill that should be called, as Wesley J. Smith points out, "The Human Cloning Authorization Act" which, if passed will permit human egg buying for the purpose of cloning.

When you read the bill, on one hand it says –"Prohibition on Purchase or Sale--No human oocyte or unfertilized blastocyst [meaning cloned embryo] may be acquired, received, or otherwise transferred for valuable consideration if the transfer affects interstate commerce.” Sounds good? Wait...Section 2(C)(ii) says - "...does not include payments to compensate a donor of one or more human oocytes for the time or inconvenience associated with such donation." So, the eggs themselves cannot be purchased, but the woman egg donor could be paid to compensate for her discomfort, inconvenience and, as Smith points out, "time she spends in being super-ovulated to produce the eggs that cannot be purchased."

I’m so thankful for people such as Jennifer Lahl of the Center for Bioethics and Culture who will be the speaker at our WT luncheon on April 14th, and for Wesley J. Smith who we had on the show on Monday for dissenting bills and proposals and bringing out the truth on these issues.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Kosovo Independence & Persecution of Serbian Christians

Just one of the subjects I talked about on my LIVE show today...

US Troops have moved into Kosova, a part of Serbia, to protect Serbian Christians against Albanian Muslims, of which 90% of the population there now is Muslim. The Serbian Christians were able to go to church again with our troops’ protection. They are praying for the UN to deny a proposal for Kosavo to become independent fearing it would lead to greater persecution of Serbian Christians.

See more pictures here.

The Washington Times reports: Russia said yesterday that it was still considering a U.N. proposal giving de facto independence to the Serbian province of Kosovo, despite Serbian hopes that Moscow would veto the plan.

Technically still part of Serbia, Kosovo has been under international administration since the 1999 NATO-led war that ousted the troops of Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic. NATO intervened to halt what it said was an ethnic-cleansing campaign that killed 10,000 Albanians and forced 1 million more to flee their homes.

U.S. Undersecretary of State R. Nicholas Burns is in Europe this week, conferring with NATO and EU officials in part to build support for the U.N. plan. U.S. officials say they hope to have a U.N. Security Council vote endorsing the proposal by June.

Serbian officials, who consider Kosovo the cradle of Serbian history, religion and culture, are banking on a Russian veto in the Security Council to block the independence plan.

The Parliament.com (EU) reports: The former Finnish president said on Monday that "independence is the only option that will bring political and economic stability to Kosovo", adding that a long history of hatred and mistrust between Kosovars and Serbs meant that staying a part of Serbia was not an option.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said in New York that he fully supported Ahtisaari’s recommendation for an independent Kosovo supervised by the international community.

The EU and the US have welcomed the call, with EU foreign affairs chief Javier Solana calling for a UN resolution to clear the move by May.

US undersecretary of state Nicholas Burns chimed in, saying "it's time the Kosovars received their just due".

Under the Ahtisaari plan, Pristina would be allowed to have its own army, flag, constitution and apply for a seat at the UN.

NATO and EU troops would keep the streets peaceful while an EU envoy would oversee key government decisions.

I’m watching this with great interest as my father’s side of the family is Serbian.

See pictures of more examples of desecration of Serbian churches here.

Tony Snow, battling cancer again

White House spokesman, Tony Snow, is battling cancer once again, please keep him in your prayers.

He successfully battled colon cancer two years ago, but it has returned and spread to his liver and elsewhere.

President Bush, making a brief statement to reporters in the Rose Garden, said he spoke with Snow early Tuesday, and said he looks forward to when Tony "comes back to the White House and briefs the press corps on the decisions that I'm making."

"His attitude is, one, that he is not going to let this whip him, and he's upbeat. My attitude is that we need to pray for him, and for his family," Bush said. "And so my message to Tony is, 'Stay strong; a lot of people love you and care for you and will pray for you.'"

HOT OFF THE SHOW! - Doctor Assisted Suicide in California

AB 374, the physician-assisted suicide bill is scheduled for a March 27 hearing in California's State Assembly. Introduced by Assemblymembers Patty Berg and Lloyd Levine in February, it is a bill intent on legalizing assisted suicide in California. Wesley J. Smith, author of "Forced Exit" and a Sr. Fellow at the Discovery Institute gave some very important arguments against the major public policies that are being made regarding assisted suicide, and the rapid movement towards "disposable people” on the show today.

Unbelievable Quote:
“...the fact that a being is a human being...is not relevant to the wrongness of killing it; it is, rather, characteristics like rationality, autonomy, and self-consciousness that make a difference. Infants lack these characteristics. Killing them, therefore, cannot be equated with killing normal human beings..." -Peter Singer, Professor Princeton Univ.

Anti-War protesters and Obama in California

On today's LIVE show we talked about the anti-war protests this past weekend re the 4th year since the war in Iraq began. San Francisco saw about 3,000 protesters and New York about 1,000, with smatterings of gatherings in other cities.

What is interesting is all the 'rent-a-mobs' and other 'causes' represented at the protests...(you know, organizations hire protesters, don’t you?)Other groups used the occasion to protest their causes such as calling on the United States to abandon its military bases throughout the world, especially in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Philippines. And Native Americans called for an end to “more than 500 years of illegal occupation of North America by people of European descent."

According to the AP - New York protesters included union members, representatives of the Jesse Jackson's Rainbow-PUSH Coalition. Actor Tim Robbins, spoke at a rally organized by the New York chapter of United for Peace and Justice, told the crowd that getting Congress to cut off funds for the war "would be a good way" to get the troops home.

One war protester in NY said she sent a gas mask to her brother, a soldier soon to be deployed to Iraq, but was concerned that cutting funds was not the right way to bring the war to an end. "If they cut off funding, does that mean I'm going to have to send a bulletproof vest and care packages?"

Demonstrators carried signs reading "Impeach Bush.” Raed Jarrar, an Iraqi-Palestinian blogger, said, "There are Iraqis who can rebuild their country. They don't need someone to come from thousands of miles away to tell them how to treat their neighbor. They are the only ones who can end this violence."

(Excuse me? Whether you agree with the war or not…They are killing each other now…what would it be if we left? The insurgants don’t want a new government in Iraq…whether we are there or not).

President Bush was at Camp David for the weekend. Spokesman Blair Jones said: "Our Constitution guarantees the right to peacefully express one's views. The men and women in our military are fighting to bring the people of Iraq the same rights and freedoms."

This week, the House plans to vote on a bill regarding continuing to fund the war which includes a troop withdrawal deadline of Sept. 1, 2008. Pres. Bush has threatened a veto.

**Michelle Malkin has lots of pictures of those who came out to support the troops here.

Plus Barack Obama, was in Oakland, one of California's largest African American communities, over the weekend and delivered a call to end to the Iraq war, to a reported crowd of about 12,000.

He told the crowds, "we can't continue this occupation" because America has got "business right here at home." He said, "I am proud of the fact that I opposed this war from the start, that I stood up in 2002 and said this is a bad idea, that this is going to cost us billions of dollars and thousands of lives." And noted that he has sponsored a bill calling for drawing out troops beginning on May 1st, that "we've got to send a signal to (the Iraqi government) that America's not going to be there forever."

However, Obama was not a U.S. senator at the time of the vote authorizing the war in Iraq.

John McCain and Mitt Romney have already been to the state and Hillary Clinton is next to come to do three back-to-back fundraisers on March 25. But Obama’s visit came the same week in which Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill giving California an early Feb. 5 presidential primary which we’ve been talking about on the show.

It is estimated that it costs about $3 million a week in ad time to make a dent in the state of California...only those candidates with the big bucks will be able to do that. And with California a big deal in the primaries for 2008 now we Californians can expect to see alot of Hillary and Romney for sure.

Israel & America – Weak or Strong?

Co-host Myles Weiss joined me on the show Monday to talk about Benjamin Netanyahu accusing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of being helpless in the face of the Iranian threat. "Bibi" as affectionately called by his supporters is surging in the polls for the next election. He says it's possible to act against Iran to stop their nuclear program. Is he right? What’s his plan? Plus how is America’s support for Israel likely to change as a result of the 2008 Presidential election? And why should we be concerned about such a little country or so few a people when others are suffering as well? You can here the show online following the link at the bottom of this post to hear our discussion on all this.

Population Control - Abortion Link

My Guest on today's show, Steven Mosher, President of the Population Research Institute, talked about Population control and abortion advocates, including Nancy Peolosi, whho are walking arm and arm through the halls of Congress and the United Nations. He explained the connection and why the UN Population Fund needs to be de-funded. Plus why he thinks there is still plenty of room to get another Roberts or Alito confirmed to the Supreme Court despite the liberal Democrat control of the House and the Senate.

Here's Planned Parenthood’s New Abortion Device...

This is the device used by abortionists for manual vacuum aspiration. Fully extended with the cannula attached, the entire apparatus measures roughly 25 inches in length. The abortion industry is pushing this monstrous device because of its relative portability and ease of operation, which enables minimally trained clinicians in impoverished areas to perform abortions by the hundreds. Help us put an end to this madness.
