HOT OFF THE SHOW! Attack on Conservative Talk Radio

Since radio was patented in 1896 there have been some efforts to control what is broadcast, but none so blatant as the "Fairness Doctrine" which liberals are working to re-implement.

What you should know:

-Hugh Hewitt, wrote at Townhall.com: The Left Loathes Talk Radio - "It is no secret that the left in America loathe talk radio--it is the medium where the conservative counter-revolution in media was launched and where huge audiences gather daily to hear Rush, Sean, Bill Bennett, Dennis Prager, Laura Ingraham and Michael Medved...who have succeeded in building large audiences...Hosts from the left side of the spectrum have not been able to achieve these results...Not surprisingly, noises have been heard coming from the democratic-controlled Congress about legislating censorship for the radio via the Orwellian-named 'fairness doctrine.'...The censorship being discussed on Capitol Hill has one aim--to shut down the free flow of information and wide open debate."

Here's what the Left says about it: http://www.votelouise.com/page/petition/fairness

-The American Spectator reports that Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer are behind the charge. Over the years, other politicians, mostly Democrats, have pushed for changes, but there's been no legislative traction. Most of those stipulations were dumped during the Reagan administration. Media outlets had mushroomed by then, coupled with a stronger push toward First Amendment rights that allowed journalists more leeway in broadcasting content.

-WorldNetDaily reported Friday that Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Senate colleague Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., want to "fix" talk radio because of its conservative influence on America, according to Sen. James Inhofe.

-A recent analysis from the Center for American Progress and Free Press indicates that liberal voices are getting drowned out in the rapid-fire passion of conservatives. The scorecard says that of the 257 news/talk stations owned by the top five commercial station owners, "91 percent of the total weekday talk radio programming was conservative, and only nine percent was progressive."

-On FOX NEWS Sunday, Senator [Dianne] Feinstein was asked by Wallce: "Oklahoma Senator Inhofe says that he overheard Barbara Boxer and Hillary Clinton three years ago complaining about talk radio and saying there should be a legislative fix. Both of them deny it ever happened. But let me ask you about yourself. Do you have a problem with talk radio, and would you consider reviving the Fairness Doctrine, which would require broadcasters to put on opposing points of view?"

Feinstein replice: "Well, in my view, talk radio tends to be one-sided. It also tends to be dwelling in hyperbole. It's explosive. It pushes people to, I think, extreme views without a lot of information."

-Smaller conservative, and Christian radio stations will suffer under the 'fairness doctrine' being forced to host and address all issues from both sides. Who will suffer the most? The American people.

-Bottom Line? As Harry Truman said, "We need not fear the expression of ideas—we do need to fear their suppression."

Please make your voice heard to your Senators and Congressmen.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! What do you get when you give Arabs the land? Turmoil

Myles Weiss, my co-host on Middle East affairs joined me on the show today to talk about what's going on in Israel with Arabs killing Arabs in Gaza; PA Mahmoud Abbas having to form a new government; Israel once again having 83 yr. old Shimon Peres take the position of President...turmoil is really too mild a word for what's happening.

Hamas (Palestinian Muslim) fighting Fatah (Palestinian Muslim) in Gaza is no surprise to those of us who have been saying that Jews giving up their land for the hope of peace won't work.

Hamas seizes key Fatah Installations

Land is NOT the answer! Not only will terrorist groups continue to fuel hatred amongst the Palestinians for the Jews no matter how much land they give up, but that hatred turns Arab brother against Arab brother.

Hamas fighter holds Koran

As Arutz Sheva reports:
"The home of deceased PLO chief Yassir Arafat was looted Saturday, with Arafat’s Nobel Peace Prize taken, along with his various military uniforms. Arafat received the prize together with Israel’s new president Shimon Peres and former Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin after signing the Oslo Accords."

"In Israeli prisons, Hamas and Fatah terrorists have been separated to avoid bloodshed."
And, "Opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu says we must learn the lessons from the Hamas takeover of Gaza, and ensure that it doesn't happen in Judea and Samaria."
Speaking on the government-run Voice of Israel Radio, Netanyahu said, "We must understand the dangers: Every piece of land that we unilaterally evacuate, becomes a place where rockets are deployed against us. We must ensure that what is happening in Gaza doesn't reach Judea and Samaria as well. Unilateral withdrawals are not the answer. We said in the past that the retreat from Gush Katif would lead to increased terrorism and arms-smuggling, and we were right. We cannot have an Iranian base on the outskirts of Be’er Sheva and Tel Aviv."

The New York Times reported:
Islam Shahwan, a spokesman for the Hamas militia, told Hamas radio triumphantly: “The era of justice and Islamic rule have arrived.”

The prime minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, said: “I call on my friend Abu Mazen,” referring to Mr. Abbas, who was in Ramallah, “to take the opportunity, now that almost the entire world understands the viciousness, the brutality of Hamas, to exercise his authority as the leader of the Palestinian people.”
We received more than usual response to the show. If you missed it you can still catch it online. Myles was pretty passionate about the issue having just returned from Israel.

Paris Hilton Co-Host for 'The View'?

ABC reports: Walters Says YES, Producer Says NO

"A listener asked Walters on her SIRIUS Satellite Radio show if Hilton could ever be a co-host.

Walters said "she would certainly always give us something to talk about." But producer Bill Geddie told the listener, "let me answer that: No!"

And Walters chimed in, "Let me answer that: Yes!"

So, what do you think?

Oakland "A's & Paris Hilton -- Playing the “Race Card”?

A listener, Greg James, forwarded me a copy of a letter he sent to the Oakland A's media and executive office in response to honoring their “Black Aces”. Here’s what Greg said:

“Will the Oakland A's be honoring the 'White Aces' too? As a longtime A's fan, what race or ethnicity has to do with Oakland A's great pitchers/players, stumps me. However since the current A's hierarchy insists, on playing the race card, can we expect an equal celebration honoring the achievements and recognitions of European-American/Oakland A's pitching greats too? I would bet, there are more of them, then there are of African-Americans. But then, who is counting? You are, apparently! I guess, if I hold my breath until the A's honor the 'White Aces', you can call me blue boy. Can we let this shameless cataloging of race, ethnicity, gender and sexual choice go, and instead, Play Ball! Batter Up! Greg James”

We all know that many of the great stars of baseball, basketball, football and other sports are black, or African-American if you prefer. But, honestly, are they good because they are black? Or because they are good? If I were black I’d want people to recognize my ability for my ability, not because of my race.

Women battle this one too, though not near as much as in the past -- performance based on gender. There was a time when clearly women were thought to be inferior in performance. That no longer is the rule. Most of the CEO’s and high degree-holders are women today, including black women.

It’s time to recognize all people for their abilities, talents, and performance based on what they accomplish, apart from their race and gender. I understand that there are still some folks who haven’t made the switch from bigot and prejudiced, to accepting, unprejudiced mature adults, so there’s still some problems in some arenas and areas for both women and blacks...

But where the 'Swirled Views' part comes in on this issue is when politicians like Al Sharpton continually and constantly play the “Race Card” when race has nothing to do with the issue...like saying the reason Paris Hilton was let out of prison before before sent back was because of race. Well, that’s a real stretch...if anything, it would be because of her money!

BTW, Paris Hilton says prison has changed her:

"I'm not the same person I was. I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26-years-old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me. I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance."

It’s time for all of us to do the right thing. Honor EVERYONE when honor is due and drop the race and gender cards, period.

HOT OF THE SHOW! Victims of Communism Memorial Dedication

With everything that is going on in the war on terror and the battle for the White House, we had an Encore Presentation with David Horowitz for our show today.

Exposing the illusions of the Left that is now in control of Congress and wants the White House as well, David Horowitz, nationally known author and son of American card-carrying communists, was one of the founders of the New Left in the '60s, and a member of the Black Panther Party. He talked frankly about why he left both and his concerns about today's Left.

And in light of today's subject I share the following relevant information. If you are in the DC area this would be significant to attend:

On June 12th, the 20th anniversary of Ronald Reagan's famous statement, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall," join us in honoring the people - and the cause - Reagan was defending, the Victims of Communism Memorial, the world’s first memorial in honor of those that died at communism’s hands, will be dedicated. The dedication ceremony is open for attendance (go here for details) and starts at 9:45 a.m.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! - Is it Amnesty or Not?

Opponents say the Illegal Immigration Reform bill is Amnesty. The President says it's not. Well, is it, or isn't it?

"More than a third of the visas examined by investigators were based on fraudulent information"
Here's some of what I talked about on the show on Tuesday and Wednesday on the issue:

-SF Mayor Gavin Newsom, as we reported two weeks ago pledged to maintain San Francisco as a sanctuary for immigrants and do everything he can to discourage federal authorities from conducting immigration raids. While he can't stop authorities from making arrests, Newsom said that no San Francisco employee will help with immigration enforcement.
“I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids. We are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it.” - Gavin Newsom
- We also reported about a special visa program that allows churches to bring thousands of foreign religious workers into the country each year...that it is riddled with fraud, as found in an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security...numerous instances in which groups in the United States falsely claimed to be churches, and visa applicants lied about their religious vocations to get into the country. More than a third of the visas examined by investigators were based on fraudulent information. A report on the investigation said that instances of fraud were particularly high among applicants from predominantly...you guessed it...Muslim countries.

- There are 14 amendments to be voted on in the next two days and aides to Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said that there could be as many as 20 more changes suggested before they call for a vote on final passage.

I wrote about the bottom line on the illegal immigration issue 4 years ago...still makes sense to me. See It's Pretty Basic here.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Turning our Kids Green

I had Holly Swanson on the show again on Monday to talk about the environmental indoctrination taking place in our public schools, “Turning Our Children Green from Kindergarten Through College”. The current push to infuse ‘Education for Sustainability’ into schools nationwide is not what it appears to be. There is a partisan political agenda attached to Education for Sustainability. Every parent, teacher, student and citizen needs to understand this agenda. If you want to know what "Green" really means I recommend you listen to what Holly shared if you missed the regular broadcast. (see link below)

Plus Marc Morano, Comm. Dir. for the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) on Senator Inhofe's Staff, sent our the following.
