YouTube Presidential Debate



Well, the power of the internet with all its followers has now ranked up there with CNN I guess in holding its own debates. Case in point YouTube's Dem Candidate Debate.

Michelle Malkin has it covered here

Hannity & Colmes had a segment on it today which clearly showed, at least those asked, that they liked the YouTube venue better than regular television debates. Why? because 'we the people' asked the questions.

And even more interesting is that those questioned overwhelmingly thought Barack Obama did way better than Hillary Clinton.

PBS Bans Moderate Muslims



On Sunday FOX News Specials with E.D. Hill aired the film banned by PBS, "Muslims Against Jihad".

According to FOX: "It was commissioned as part of the PBS series "America at the Crossroads" about the post 9/11 world, but PBS executives rejected it."

Why? PBS said it was because the filmmakers were "alarmist, overreaching and unfair."

The filmmakers, which include Frank Gaffney, however say it was because of liberal bias at PBS. One of the filmmakers said he was asked by PBS, "Don't you screen the politics of those you use?" (specifically of Gaffney).

The film includes stories of moderate Muslims who are against Jihad in France, the banning of which is reminescent of Steve Ermerson's film, "Jihad in America - Terrorists Among Us," the 1994 PBS Documentary on terrorist cells in America, that was banned by PBS from further broadcasts.

Question: Ah, isn't PBS public broadcasting?

Oh, and it was financed with $675,000 of taxpayers' money.

Immigration 100 Years Ago



The year is 1907, one hundred years ago......and the President of the United States, Theordore Roosevelt had to say about immigration...

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." -Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Saddam's Secret Tapes

We often need to look back at the history of facts in order to see if our current view is in line with the truth. And no where is this needed more than on the war in Iraq. (Please don't miss the links at the bottom)

Remember this? ...

Bill Tierney, a former military intelligence officer and an UNSCOM weapons inspector in Iraq from 1996-1998, told Fox News' Hannity & Colmes on last year that Saddaem Hussein was heavily involved with terrorism, and that translations of 12 of the dictator's 'secret tapes' recorded at his palace office, reveal he talked about attacks that were coming to Washington DC. The tapes have been confirmed by U.S. officials as being authentic.

According to Tierney, he was contacted by the National Virtual Translation Center, which is run by the FBI, to translate the tapes which reveal, among other things, conversations between Saddam Hussein and Deputy Prime Minister Tarik Aziz about terrorist attacks on America via missiles, and chemical and biological WMD.

On one of the tapes Tariq Aziz told Saddam:

"The biological [attack] is very easy to make. It's so simple that any biologist can make a bottle of germs and drop it into a water tower and kill 100,000. This is not done by a state. No need to accuse a state. An individual can do it."
The two also talked about their need for help from Brazil, France and Russia.

Tapes dated August 1995 reveal one of Saddam's sons-in-law, Hussein Kamel, explaining how Iraq hid its biological weapons program from U.N. inspectors:

"We did not reveal all that we have. We did not reveal the volume of chemical weapons we had produced."

Kamel also said Iraq had not revealed:
"the type of weapons, nor the volume of the materials we imported."

Alan Colmes said on the above mentioned broadcast, that WMD did not exist in Iraq when the U.S. went to war, because David Kay said they were destroyed in 1998 with the bombing ordered by Bill Clinton. To which Tierney said:

"I'm so happy you said that. I was on the targeting shop at CENTCOM. Alright? I'm gonna tell you something: Before we went in there, the Iraqis moved all their equipment out, except for a few massive machines that they couldn't move. That four days of bombing was a joke. They rebuilt everything."

In 1992 tremendous efforts were made in Iraq to rebuild electric stations outside of Basra to divert power in order to build two different types of nuclear weapons, one called a 'special bomb' by Hussein.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, says the tapes show, "Saddam had a fixation on weapons of mass destruction and he had a fixation on hiding what he was doing from the U.N. inspectors."

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Living Under the Patriot Act



Yesterday Paul Ibbetson, author of "Living Under The Patriot Act: Educating A Society", and a former Kansas Chief of Police detailed the efforts to bring the most powerful law in the war on terror to fruition, who the combatants included, ie the "Coalition of Opposition". At today's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Congressman Duncan Hunter said:

"[The] U.S. government sadly decided to side with the drug dealer and prosecute agents Compean and Ramos for simply fulfilling their duties as Border patrolmen."

"The men and women of the Border Patrol are certainly not above the laws they are empowered to enforce... But they must also know that when they must apply the necessary and appropriate level of force, their government will not work aggressively to ensure they are punished while lawlessness is rewarded."

And Hunter added that pardoning former Border Agents Compean and Ramos is the only way "to correct this terrible injustice."

Congressman Dana Rohrabacher added:

"The decision to give immunity to the drug dealer and throw the book at the border patrol agents was a prosecutorial travesty. The whole episode stinks to high heaven."

Even Democrat Dianne Feinstein called the more than decade long sentences handed down to Compean and Ramos, excessive and vowed to look further into why prosecutors charged the men with a violation that requires a mandatory 10-year sentence.

Do you remember Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, the two Border Patrol agents who are serving a combined 23 years in prison for trying to arrest an illegal alien drug smuggler?

Apparently some in Washington D.C. have forgotten them...
Complete amnesia.

Ramos and Compean have been in prison for over six months now.
And its been more than five months since a gang of illegal aliens
attempted to murder Ramos in prison.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! - Pesky Peaceniks & Senate Theatrics



As you know the Democrat controlled Senate is doing their all-nighter to debate the war in Iraq. I listened to some of it on C-SPAN. Senator Harkin read several letters from Ohio constituents - all wanting the troops to come home now.

Harkin accused President Bush of cherry-picking elements of reports on the progress in Iraq, saying Bush would do it again after the General gives his report in Sept. But who's calling the kettle black? The letters Harkin read from voters in his state were all against the war. Surely there are some in his state who agree with the other 51% of Americans who believe the surge should go through Sept. And surely he's heard from some of them!

I talked today about CODEPINK's current targets: the Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, et al.

Medea Benjamin, the San Francisco activist and Green Party leader who co-founded the group, CODEPINK, is leading the group in shifting its attention to Congress after a four-month daily vigil outside the White House...saying, "We put all our pressure on the Bush administration to begin with. Obviously, that didn't make a difference. So we thought, 'Let's move who we can move, let's change the Congress,' and so we went out and worked like hell to get Democrats elected. Now we are putting pressure on the Democrats who control Congress. It seems like a logical strategy to me."

We've done shows on CODEPINK - who they are, their agenda, etc., so I didn't get in to their ideology and history today, but rather their activities and effectiveness.

But remember? They infiltrated the Democrat and Republican national conventions in 2004. Bush's acceptance speech was interrupted twice by the group, including CODEPINK co-founder Jodie Evans, who removed her dress to reveal a pink slip with the words: "Fire Bush! Women Say Bring Home the Troops Now."

As the SF Chronicle reported recently: CodePink has intensified its anti-war efforts by renting a house on Capitol Hill, which serves as a command center and a crash pad for activists. Decorated with pink curtains, pink streamers and even a pink mailbox, it looks like what would happen if Barbie opened a boarding house for peaceniks. The basement is the "peace room" -- not the war room -- where members plan strategy and decorate pink banners with slogans such as "War Causes Global Warming." hmmmmm

At the front door is a whiteboard marking the day's events of Senate or House Committee hearings, so activists can choose what to protest. They watch C-SPAN from the house and text their fellow activists inside hearing rooms to get them perfectly placed within the frame of the TV cameras for maximum publicity. That explains why, when ex-CIA agent Valerie Wilson testified before Congress, viewers couldn't avoid seeing a woman behind her in a bright pink shirt reading, "Impeach Bush."


Well, all I can say is that while the Senate is 'sacrificing' staying up all night to debate the war in front of the whole world, including our enemies, and CODEPINK puts the pressure on Democrats to get our, now...our troops are heroically make the rest of us proud.

Morning Edition, April 23, 2007 · Dozens of women in southwest China have recently been forced into abortions, some late in their pregnancies. It's not the first time a local government has been accused of such an action, but it's surprising because China has relaxed its law that limits each family to one child.

Happy Birthday, America!



The following was written by an llth grader, Joe Stubenrauch, and given to my husband, Duane, during his 2nd run for U.S. Congress 10 years ago. We've lost track of Joe, but his words are as excellent today as they were when first written. Joe, if you read this please get in touch with us.

The Pledge of Allegiance

The colors of our country, the red, white and blue, have flown for 220 years upon countless fields and over countless graves. The flag has flown proudly from the steps of our capitol and it has been waved in hope in the tiny hand of a child.

It was first raised in promise over a fledgling republic. It stood, bloody and ragged upon the battlefields of the Civil War, beating in the wind, a standard of freedom and union. For those brave men and women who have saluted our flag over the years, there is no sacrifice begrudged in giving one's life for the nation for which that flag flies; it is an honor.

When I stand before Old Glory, I am standing before the same flag that has tossed upon every sea in the world. Upon it are the same rippling colors that flew from the ships that beached at Normandy and that landed upon the shores of Italy and Iwo Jima, bringing liberation to the oppressed. It is the same dear flag for which soldiers gave their all in Korea and Desert Storm.

When I stand with my hand pressed against my own beating heart, feeling the flood course through my body, I know that I am standing in the steps of those whose noble names are written upon the Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC. I am saluting the same flag which has been lifted with a shout of triumph as some lone soldier struggled to the height of a hill, and upon reaching the summit, raised it as a sign of hope to those below.

It is the same flag that groaned and trembled but was not daunted upon the fateful deaths of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. The same that was lifted high in bright victory under President Ronald Reagan.

That flag which has always flown for progress and for the good of mankind now stands forever upon the moon that glows softly above us. I imagine that prisoners of war can take comfort that every time their eyes lift to that great globe, there is the flag of America, still standing tall and proud, still standing for home and liberty.

No matter what befalls our country, the flag of the United states of America will forever be a banner of hope; hope for the individual and hope for freedom. America, the land of beauty, founded upon and under God, baptized in the blood of the men and women who gave all so that the values our flag stands for would never fall.

The Pledge of Allegiance is a simple statement of commitment that has been said across our country by school children for generations. When those children speak the pledge each school morning, they are rededicating themselves to the eternal principles of liberty and self-government that men like Jefferson and Lincoln established so long ago.

To me, the Pledge of Allegiance is the acknowledgement of all that has gone before, and a promise of what is to come. It is a recognition of that blood that has been spilled across our glorious nation and across the world in the name of liberty. It is that American blood that will be spilled again and again, willingly, in the defense of all that is good and right.

This Spring, as I stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and looked out across the Reflecting Pool to the Washington Monument and the illuminated Caitol beyond, I thought of the words of Lincoln, carved into the stone walls of the monument itself:

"...that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom; and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

To me, the Pledge of Allegiance is a commitment to live out those words.
