HOT OFF THE SHOW! Homeschooling Blamed on Republicans

Newsleader.com's editorial board blames Republicans for what they call 'pandering' to homeschoolers:

"Virginia's legislature has been largely supportive of home-schooling, and that's fine. But when Virginia begins to loosen the standards of accountability to the point that home-schooled children may get a less than quality education, we feel it's imperative to call it for what it is: Pandering to a group for purely political reasons. Each year, it seems, the General Assembly considers a bill that will loosen the standards of education that apply to those who administer home-school education. This year is no different. What home-schooling advocates seek is to allow home-school teachers — who are generally parents, naturally — to qualify as teachers while possessing only a high school education. Such a measure passed both houses of the General Assembly in 2004, only to be vetoed by former Gov. Mark Warner. This year, both the House of Delegates and the Senate have rubberstamped a similar bill and sent it on to Gov. Tim Kaine. We strongly object to the loosening of standards for Virginia's home-schooled children."

What? Parents now have to have college degrees to teach their children? Absolutely ridiculous!!

If you didn't hear my show today with attorney Brad Dacus on other stories like this on education, you can hear it online HERE. Some of what he has to say is a hair-raiser!
