From a listener, Richard:
"The person who does not get involved in the political process, at least enough to vote, is destined to be ruled by lesser people.

Former president Calvin Coolidge put it another way: “If the people fail to vote, a government will be developed which is not their government... The whole system of American Government rests on the ballot box. Unless citizens perform their duties there, such a system of government is doomed to failure.” —Calvin Coolidge

We shouldn't have to convince ourselves that we don't have enough time. Soldiers have left their families and traveled halfway around the world for months and years on end, putting their lives at risk, so we could have the precious right and privilege to vote. If those same soldiers can put themselves in harm's way in places like Iwo Jima, Southeast Asia, Normandy, Iraq and Afghanistan, we can take the relatively few minutes it takes to vote!"

GO THE EXTRA MILE: Call 10 like-minded voters to get out to vote tonight and tomorrow. Start offer to drive them to the polls if needed. So much counts on your extra effort this election season.
