A real Hollywood Twist: Angelina Jolie Wants Troops to Stay in Iraq.
The mainstream media isn’t reporting this story, I’m guessing because it is too ‘Swirled’ for them. But according to NewsMax's Hollywood Confidential:
“Hollywood celebrities are known for supporting candidates who campaign on the promise to bring the troops home from Iraq. But Angelina Jolie, in her capacity as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, visited Iraq and had the opportunity to meet with the military responsible for the success of the ‘surge.’ And the actress-diplomat is now distinguishing herself from most of the Hollywood Left. In a Washington Post op-ed titled, “Staying to Help in Iraq,” “General Petraeus told me he would support new efforts to address the humanitarian crisis ‘to the maximum extent possible’ -- which leaves me hopeful that more progress can be made.”
As for the surge, she said, “I can only state what I witnessed: U.N. staff and those of non-governmental organizations seem to feel they have the right set of circumstances to attempt to scale up their programs. And when I asked the troops if they wanted to go home as soon as possible, they said that they miss home but feel invested in Iraq. They want to be a part of the humanitarian progress they now feel is possible.
Can the United States afford to gamble that four million or more poor and displaced people, in the heart of the Middle East, won't explode in violent desperation, sending the whole region into further disorder? It appears as though Jolie is affirming what military leaders have been saying; that not only will humanitarian progress be halted if the U.S. pulls out, but a humanitarian calamity will ensue.”
How refreshing to see this common sense coming out of Hollywood! But I can assure you she wouldn’t be welcome in Iran! During Iranian Pres. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s two day visit in Iraq recently he said,
"No one likes them (the United States). This is the wish of regional nations, that is the withdrawal of foreigners from this region."
He wants us out of Iraq now! Because his kind of rule is in jeopardy if we are successful in the region. His kind of rule such as: Sentencing an American-Iranian Journalist recently who was tried in absentia. Even though she is no longer in Iraq, Radio Farda correspondent Parnaz Azima has been sentenced to one year in prison for "spreading anti-state propaganda." Radio Farda is considered subversive by the Iranian regime.
No, Angelina Joli would not be welcome in Iran, but I’m sure they would welcome other celebrities who agree with them such as, well, Rosie O’Donnell, who believes 9/11 was an inside job (scroll down) do I need to go on? No, I don’t think so, that’s Swirled enough by itself.
