After Steve Rattner quit as Pres. Obama's Car Czar, Ron Bloom, a six-figure official with the Steelworkers' Union stepped in as his replacement.
Bloom's experience as negotiator for the unions reveals his 'approach' in the following statement given to an International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals conference in May 21, 2006:
"Let me give you some advice. First, we are big believers in dentist chair bargaining. For those of you not familiar with this approach, it is inspired by the story of the man who walks into his dentist's office, grabs the dentist by the (unmentionables) and says, 'now, let's not hurt each other.' We do have a lot to lose and we and everybody else knows it. But what you need to understand is that we are not willing to lose it."
But of greater significance is Bloom's statement that "...the free market is nonsense" and "we kinda agree with Mao that political power comes from the barrel of a gun..."
Think about it...
-- the free market is nonsense
and he agrees with Mao
-- that political power comes from the barrel of a gun.
Just what is he exactly saying here? And why didn't the president know about his mentality on this? Or...did he?
