Gitmo Detainee Convicted of 1 ChargeWASHINGTON TIMES -- The Obama administration's plan to prosecute suspected terrorists in civilian courts was dealt a serious blow Wednesday when a jury acquitted a former Guantanamo detainee of all but one of the hundreds of charges he faced. Ahmed Ghailani, 36, still faces at least 20 years in prison and could receive a life sentence after he was convicted of one count of conspiracy to destroy U.S. property in connection with the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. But Ghailani was acquitted of 224 counts of murder for each of the people killed in the bombings as well as other 60 other charges. He could have faced the death penalty if convicted of murder.

FBI Crackdown on Child Prostitution Results in 884 ArrestsCNN -- A three-day federal crackdown on child prostitution rings across the country has resulted in the recovery of 69 children and the arrest of 884 people, including 99 pimps, federal authorities said Monday. Meanwhile, in Tennessee, authorities announced Monday they were arresting 29 individuals involved in gangs that trafficked underage Somali and African-America girls in a prostitution ring. The three-day federal sweep, called Operation Cross Country V, involved 40 cities nationwide and is part of the Innocence Lost National Initiative.

NY Congresswoman: 100 Percent Chance of Cyber Attack against Power GridEXECUTIVE GOV -- A New York congresswoman says the possibility of cyber attack against the nation’s power grid is 100 percent, and that such an attack would likely do untold harm. Speaking before the SC World Congress Data Security Conference, Rep. Yvette Clark (D-N.Y.), who chairs the Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, Science, and Technology Subcommittee, said the United States faces chilling odds of an electrical-grid attack. “Our networks are already being penetrated as we stand here,” Clarke said, according to a report on InfoSecurity.com.
