Judge John Roberts Approved - 5 Jump Off the Political Cliff
Despite a last minute push by liberal activists Judge John Roberts was approved today by the Senate Judiciary Committee with a vote of 13-5. His nomination goes to the Senate for debate and that vote is expected to take place next Thursday.
Conservative groups were quick to send out press releases on today's approving vote praising Judge Roberts' love for the constitution. And Concerned Women of America's chief counsel said, "Only those willing to jump off a political cliff by joining hands with the die-hard abortion, gay rights and environmental groups can be expected to oppose this supremely qualified nominee."
The five Democrats who voted no were: Sens. Dianne Feinstein of California, Joseph Biden of Delaware, Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, Charles Schumer of New York and Dick Durbin of Illinois.
Any surprises? Who will be the President's next choice?
