Hamas Leader Still Refuses to Recognize Israel

This in from AP:

Hamas leader, Khaled Mashaal, said Hamas would not recognize Israel as a legitimate state, but is willing to exchange Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, for Palestianinan prisoners. He also wants the formation of a national unity government made up of Hamas and Fatah.

However, Mahmoud Abbas is willing to recognize Israel in exchange for a Palestinian state. Hamas refuses.

"Hamas will not surrender ... and will not recognize Israel. But Hamas does not want to be in power alone. The real solution is the formation of a national unity government based on Palestinian principles. A national unity government should take its orders from the Palestinians, not from America or Israel."
