HOT OFF THE SHOW! Teachers Debate Teaching Evolution

Check out MSNBC's emphasis on the future of evolution. Both our show today with Billy Crone on Intelligent Design and our show on Wednesday with Orlean Koehle just back from the NEA convention are timely. Teachers at the recent NEA convention debated on how to teach creationism 'without stifling creative thinking.'

As reported by Ben Feller for MSNBC "Every time Lisa Marroquin teaches biological evolution, she knows some students will show up ready to talk creationism, a religious doctrine of how life came to be." Marroquin said she tells her students that "they must learn it (evolution) even if they don’t like it, because 'they’ve got to live in the real world.'

There is a growing challenge, due in great part to the 'Intelligent Design' movement, to teaching evolution in school without teaching creationism, in local communities and state legislatures, but not without reaction from those who fear teaching creationism will erode 'real' science. Funny thing, Darwinism is a theory.
