Pope speaks out against “designer babies”

In Rome over the weekend Pope Benedict condemned genetic engineering and other scientific practices that allow people to select so-called “designer babies”. He said, “In developed countries, there is a growing interest for the most sophisticated biotechnological research to introduce subtle and extensive eugenics methods in the obsessive search for the ‘perfect child’"….

The Pope also said the right to life was increasingly under attack in the world, citing pressures to legalize abortion in Latin America, and euthanasia in the richest countries…that people are promoting euthanasia and assisted suicide for the “presumed well-being of people.” He pointed out that outside forces want pro-life nations to “liberalize new forms of chemical abortion in the name of reproductive health.”

I just interviewed Steven Mosher, President of Population Research Institute, who talked about Nicaragua which approved a sweeping law banning abortion. Their national assembly approved the bill unanimously, however, not without threats from the international community which said it would stop economic aid if they passed such a law. That show will air on March 7th, you don’t want to miss it.

But to the point… An entire nation writes into law that it will be a pro-life nation, and one of the most influential religious leaders, the Pope, continues to boldly stand for the culture of life. I wish more religious leaders would step up to the plate on this issue, not to mention more nations including the United States, instead of bowing to political correctness…fear…or dollars. I applaud Nicaragua and Pope Benedict for their courage regardless of tremendous cultural and political pressure.

More on what the Pope believes

HOT OFF THE SHOW! - Radical Animal Rights Groups Exposed

PETA employees kill animals after taking them from animal shelters in good faith of finding them homes. They kill 90% of all the animals they take. Why do they support ALF? Sharon exposes the real story behind their claims and the activities of this group which the FBI lists as one of the greatest domestic terrorist threats, on Monday's show.

PetaKillsAnimals.com has stats and facts that are very interesting. Such as...

So, PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals kills animals, while at the same time backing arsonists who destroy laboratories and company facilities such as Shaklee Corporation for doing research to find a cure for AIDS and breast cancer.

Plus, PETA Wants Constitutional Amendment For Fish!
Their proposed constitutional amendment declares "all mammals, birds, and fish will, henceforth, be defined as 'persons' in the eyes of the law." Yet PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has called human beings the "biggest blight on the face of the earth."

Oh, and for the record, the group spends less than one percent of its 24-million-dollar budget actually helping animals. Their $29,000 million annual budget is used rather for cheap PR stunts like these 'campaigns'...

We are still asking them to come on the show and state their case for these activities. But will they come?

WOMANTALK FRIDAY: Protecting our Kids from Pedophilia

Lots of good information on today's show on what signs to watch for in discerning a pedophile, and 'symptoms' of a child who has been molested. As in all things, prevention is crucial. Our guest gives a great list of resources for parents and educators on the subject as well.

There is not only alot of misconception out there regarding pedophilia, but of course, twisted advocacy...

"As this anxiety has been cranked up and up in recent decades, we have been seeing increasingly repressive measures designed not to protect children themselves but to protect the myth of childhood innocence in which society has invested so heavily.” -Tom O'Carroll

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Wednesday - The Blasphemy Challenge

Well, if you haven't already heard about it...BlasphemyChallenge.com is giving away 1001 DVDs of "The God Who Wasn't There", but there’s only one catch. In order to get a free copy people have to renounce their belief in God, the Holy Spirit, online via a video cam, and upload it to YouTube. On their website they say, “We want your soul. It's simple.” And people are doing it, especially young people. Is this part of the 'new atheism?"

One of the world’s leading atheists has launched an accelerated battle against religion in a new book, The God Delusion. But Oxford’s Richard Dawkins, whose faith in Darwinism is said to be limitless, goes beyond books...he is a major player in the ‘new atheism’ which is aggressively seeking to undo belief in God.

The Rational Response Squad is behind the Blasphemy Challenge, and is an activist network of atheists who say they are fed up with religions dominance on society, and seek to "unite atheists who seek to speak out more often, get involved in blunt discourse, and distribute literature that can increase awareness as to the dangers of dogma." They boast 21,000 members, and a fast-growing youth division organized at FreeThinkingTeens.com. They conducted a War on Christmas giving away free THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE DVDs to Christians who request them as well as covertly planting DVDs in Christian churches.

They are targeting teens.

On the Blasphemy Challenge website, Fleming writes about the DVD: "BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE did it to the gun culture. SUPER SIZE ME did it to fast food. THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE does it to religion. A #1 bestselling independent documentary at Amazon.com, THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE holds Christianity up to a bright spotlight and asks the questions few dare to ask. Starting off by exploring the case that Jesus never actually existed."

Hello? there's just too much history that documents the life of Jesus Christ that this statement doesn't deserve a rebuttal except to say it's completely false.

QUOTES BY RICHARD DAWKINS ATHEIST AND OXFORD PROFESSOR:

"I don't want to sound callous. I mean, even if I have nothing to offer, that doesn't matter, because that still doesn't mean that what anybody else has to offer therefore has to be true."

"I doubt that religion can survive deep understanding. The shallows are its natural habitat. Cranks and fundamentalists are too often victimised as scapegoats for religion in general. It is only quite recently that Christianity reinvented itself in non-fundamentalist guise

"Who will say with confidence that sexual abuse is more permanently damaging to children than threatening them with the eternal and unquenchable fires of hell?"

"We admit that we are like apes, but we seldom realise that we are apes."

"Religious people split into three main groups when faced with science. I shall label them the "know-nothings", the "know-alls", and the "no-contests""

"For the first half of geological time our ancestors were bacteria. Most creatures still are bacteria, and each one of our trillions of cells is a colony of bacteria."

"What are all of us but self-reproducing robots? We have been put together by our genes and what we do is roam the world looking for a way to sustain ourselves and ultimately produce another robot child."

"It is almost as if the human brain were specifically designed to misunderstand Darwinism, and to find it hard to believe.."

"I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world."

“We cannot, of course, disprove God, just as we can't disprove Thor, fairies, leprechauns and the Flying Spaghetti Monster. But, like those other fantasies that we can't disprove, we can say that God is very very improbable.”

Lots of other information on the show today including another professor who once was a Christian...until he went to Princeton theological seminary. Plus comments from 'on the street' people about the subject.

You can still hear it online...

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Tuesday - Washington Post's William Arkin Against the Troops

Talked about anti-war protesters spitting on, cursing, flicking cigarette butts at Pfc Joshua Sparling on the show today, as well as...

William M. Arkin's article, "Early Warning" in the Washington Post last week. No matter what spin he tries to put on why he wrote the article...it is Absolutely unbelievable!

Talk about turned completely upside down! Thinking that instead of Americans needing to stand with our troops, our troops should be grateful that Americans have continued to stand with them through Abu Ghraib and Haditha, etc. Just take a look at some of what he said as a result of "mulling over an NBC Nightly News report by Richard Engel from Iraq"...

"I'm all for everyone expressing their opinion, even those who wear the uniform of the United States Army. But I also hope that military commanders took the soldiers aside after the story and explained to them why it wasn't for them to disapprove of the American people."

"Troops here say they are increasingly frustrated by American criticism of the war. Many take it personally, believing it is also criticism of what they've been fighting for."

In response to what some of the soldiers said such as...

21 year old Tyler Johnson, who Engel said "was frustrated about war skepticism and thinks that critics should come over and see what it's like firsthand before criticizing. 'You may support or say we support the troops, but, so you're not supporting what they do, what they're here sweating for, what we bleed for, what we die for. It just don't make sense to me.'"

And Staff Sergeant Manuel Sahagun on his second tour in Iraq. "...complained that 'one thing I don't like is when people back home say they support the troops, but they don't support the war. If they're going to support us, support us all the way.'"

(excuse me...complained???)

And Specialist Peter Manna who said, "If they don't think we're doing a good job, everything that we've done here is all in vain."

Arkins then writes:

"These soldiers should be grateful that the American public, which by all polls overwhelmingly disapproves of the Iraq war and the President's handling of it, do still offer their support to them, and their respect. Through every Abu Ghraib and Haditha, through every rape and murder, the American public has indulged those in uniform, accepting that the incidents were the product of bad apples or even of some administration or command order. Sure, it is the junior enlisted men who go to jail. But even at anti-war protests, the focus is firmly on the White House and the policy. We don't see very many "baby killer" epithets being thrown around these days, no one in uniform is being spit upon.

The Washington Post, and Arkin, are so out of touch!! Case in point Pfc Joshua Sparling to name just one.

Arkin goes on to write:

"So, we pay the soldiers a decent wage, take care of their families, provide them with housing and medical care and vast social support systems and ship obscene amenities into the war zone for them, we support them in every possible way, and their attitude is that we should in addition roll over and play dead, defer to the military and the generals and let them fight their war, and give up our rights and responsibilities to speak up because they are above society?"

Absolutely unbelievable!! The liberals not only don’t get it..but their attitude is reprehensible!

Does this sound to you like an attitude that supports our troops? Ah, absolutely not.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Monday - If We Don't Win

Ted Kennedy said the 'surge' "defies public opinion, defies the bi-partisan Congress, defies the Generals."

Sorry, nice try, but not true. The latest FOX News poll showed that overall 63% of Americans want the President's new plan to work, including 51% of Democrats.

Defies the Generals? Well not the one that Congress just approved, General Petrais.

The Democrats just want to pull the troops now, period. Even those who said they don't want a time-table for withdrawl, have a time-table for withdrawl! ie Hillary Clinton who just said if the war isn't ended by 2009 (when she's elected) she'll end the war.

How come these folks don't get that the obvious consequences of us not winning will be that Iran takes over Iraq and Sharia law takes over the whole region?

Ahmadinejad said he can put 40,000 suicide bombers in the region; wants Israel wiped off the map; wants America brought down.

I don't get why liberals don't get it! They are blind.

Pfc. Joshua Sparling - The Abuse Continues - Spit on at Anti-War Protest

We reported a year ago that the 'death wish' on Pfc. Joshua Sparling didn't work.

That 'death wish' came at Christmas time while Joshua was hospitalized at Walter Reed Hospital for injuries received while fighting in Iraq.

It said...

"Have a great time in the war and have a great time dieing [sic] in the war
From,
Miguel
P.S. DIE

Meet the sender

Well Joshua, who lost his leg as a result of his injuries, was on Hannity & Colmes last week telling of the anti-war protesters in Washington DC the weekend before...who spit on him, flicked cigarette butts and made hand 'gestures' at him while he was peacefully protesting the protest, holding an American flag, wearing his Airbourne sweater.

What is the matter with these people? Spitting on and treating our soldiers this way! Those who do such things know nothing of peace, let alone respect, and just plain kindness.

Liberals continually lament that the war in Iraq is another Vietnam. The only thing about the Iraq war that is like the Vietnam war...are the anti-war protesters.

This is reprehensible!!

Thank you, Pfc. Joshua Sparling, you are one of our finest!

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Wednesday - Weather Channel Wants to Decertify Skeptics

Highlights from Wednesday's show:

-Marc Morano, Communications Director, U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, joined me on the show to talk about how the U.S. Senate website was shut down after reporting that the Weather Channel’s most prominent climatologist is advocating that broadcast meteorologists be stripped of their scientific certification if they express skepticism about predictions of manmade catastrophic global warming. This latest call to silence skeptics follows a year of comparing skeptics to "Holocaust Deniers" and Nuremberg-style war crimes trials.

-The Weather Channel’s top climate expert, Heidi Cullen, who alled for the decertification of skeptics is interestingly one of the stars of a new political global warming documentary, “Everything’s Cool,” that according to its website, accuses the United States government of “criminal neglect”.

-Plus CNS News reports that Inconvenient Truth is targeting your kids: ‘Inconvenient Truth’ Producer Pens Kids’ Global Warming Text - A children’s book planned for release in September is an attempt to “fill the minds of children with ‘sky-is-falling’ global warming hysteria,” a Republican senator warns.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Tuesday - PETA after Your Kids

Highlights from Tuesday's LIVE! show:

-If you are not familiar with PETA, (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), what they are really about, and what they’ve been up to…get ready to raise your eyebrows and to take some action because this involves your kids!

-As I mentioned last week, two PETA employees are standing trial as we speak for killing animals. Andrew Cook and Adrian Hinkle were caught by police for throwing bags full of dead animals into a shopping-center dumpster. Workers at local animal shelters testify that Cook and Hinkle had collected the animals earlier that day on the promise that PETA would find them adoptive homes. This is not the first time.

-This is not the worst of it. PETA is trying to indoctrinate your kids in school. In its 2003 annual report, PETA boasts of reaching more than 2.3 million children and teachers with its destructive messages.

-They are even trying to appeal to religious people even tried to advertise on our flagship station here KDIA. But, what most people don’t know is their ties to what the FBI calls one of the nation’s “most serious domestic terrorist threats.”

-QUOTES:
• Even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we'd be against it." - Ingrid Newkirk, President PETA
• "There is no rational basis for saying that a human being has special rights. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. They're all mammals." - Ingrid Newkirk
• Get arrested. Destroy the property of those who torture animals. Liberate those animals interned in the hellholes our society tolerates." - Jerry Vlasak, Animal Defense League
• "I am not a morose person, but I would rather not be here. I don't have any reverence for life, only for the entities themselves. I would rather see a blank space where I am. This will sound like fruitcake stuff again but at least I wouldn't be harming anything." - Ingrid Newkirk, national director, Peoplefor the Ethical Treatment of Animals
• "I don't think you'd have to kill, assassinate too many. I think for five lives, 10 lives, 15 human lives, we could save a million, 2 million, or 10 million non-human lives." -Dr. Jerry Vlasak of North American Animal Liberation

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Monday - Neither Congress or Bush Budges on Iraq, Really

Highlights from Monday's show:

-The new Democrat-contolled Congress has been in session 4 weeks now; the War in Iraq is at the top of the list. With all the talk about reform, resolutions and bi-partisanship - bottom line - neither side is budging on Iraq.

-The only thing that is truly new is the majority power liberals have gained in Congress. But is that enough for them to get their way?

-In December the liberals wanted more troops...Bush calls for more troops...liberals now are against it.

-Remember, liberals have been calling for the with-drawl of our troops is nothing new. Two years ago the President gave a speech saying, "Some are calling for a deadline for withdrawal. Many advocating an artificial timetable for withdrawing our troops are sincere — but I believe they're sincerely wrong.”

-The President also said then, "Pulling our troops out before they've achieved their purpose is not a plan for victory. As Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman said, setting an artificial timetable would "discourage our troops because it seems to be heading for the door. It will encourage the terrorists, it will confuse the Iraqi people. Senator Lieberman is right. Setting an artificial deadline to withdraw would send a message across the world that America is a weak and an unreliable ally. Setting an artificial deadline to withdraw would send a signal to our enemies — that if they wait long enough, America will cut and run and abandon its friends. And setting an artificial deadline to withdraw would vindicate the terrorists' tactics of beheadings and suicide bombings and mass murder — and invite new attacks on America. To all who wear the uniform, I make you this pledge: America will not run in the face of car bombers and assassins so long as I am your Commander-in-Chief."

-In the 2007 State of the Union Address the President said, “This is not the fight we entered in Iraq, but it is the fight we're in. Every one of us wishes this war were over and won. Yet it would not be like us to leave our promises unkept, our friends abandoned, and our own security at risk. "

-The latest Fox News poll asked the following question:
Do you personally want the Iraq plan President Bush announced last week to succeed?

Here are the results:
Overall: 63% Yes 22% No 15% Don’t Know
Democrats: 51% Yes 34% No 15% Don’t Know
Republicans: 79% Yes 11% No 10% Don’t Know
Independents 63% Yes 19% No 17% Don’t Know
