Taliban Releases Remaining Hostages

We rejoice that on Wednesday the Taliban released 12 of the 19 So. Korean hostages, and today the remaining 7 were released, after holding them for almost six weeks.

Canada.com reports:
The four women and three men were handed over in two batches to officials of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ghazni province in southeast Afghanistan, from where the Taliban seized 23 Christian volunteers on July 19.

In exchange, So. Korea agreed to withdraw its military presence in Afghanistan by the end of this year, and stop Christian missionaries from working in Afghanistan.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research

What are the facts about adult vs. embryonic stem cells? Three years ago California passed a $3 billion bond initiative for stem cell research. But stem-cell research was already legal and funded in California. What was the difference? Cloning. Where does the research stand today? That's what we talked about on Wednesday's show with Jennifer Lahl, Director of The Center for Bioethics and Culture.

Here are some links on the subject that you can find at our Issues Library.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Part 2 Taliban to Release So. Korean Hostages

In this photo released from Sammul Church via Yonhap Saturday, July 21, 2007, the group of South Korean Christians pose for a memorial photo before leaving for Afghanistan Friday, July 13, 2007

GREAT NEWS!

Relatives of South Koreans kidnapped in Afghanistan cheer as they watch a news report on TV in Sungnam, south of Seoul, South Korea

The Taliban agreed yesterday to release the remaining 19 South Korean hostages who have been held hostage for six weeks after So. Korea agreed to withdraw its troops by this year's end and to prevent Christian missionaries from working in Afghanistan. (Isn't that what it's really all about?)

Relatives of South Koreans kidnapped in Afghanistan react as they watch a news report in Seoul, South Korea

The militants evidently backed down their demands for a prisoner exchange. However, pundits say that the Taliban, which killed two of the South Korean hostages last month, could emerge with with enhanced political legitimacy because they successfully negotiated with a foreign government.

As you recall the Taliban kidnapped 23 Koreans as they traveled by bus from Kabul to Kandahar on July 19. They killed two male hostages end of July and freed two ill female captives a couple of weeks ago.

A Taliban spokesman said that the South Koreans would be freed "in the coming days" and that "tribal elders would act as go-betweens."

It's so good to hear this news. But please don't stop praying for the hostages until they are indeed released and free. And it will take a long time for them to recover from this horrific ordeal.

Is there any question in your mind what kind of mentality we are up against in the war on terror...to stop the aggression and success of terrorists? Politicizing the war in Iraq only hinders our success in stopping it!

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Part 1 - Good News out of Iraq

What haven't you heard about the following good news that has taken place in Iraq? Because the MSM (mainstream media) doesn't, or won't, report it!

Tragically, the lack of reporting the positive things that are happening serves two purposes: #1 to undermine the world's perception of the United States, thus minimizing support, and #2 to discourage American citizens.

There's so much progress that goes on in Iraq day in and day out thanks to the efforts of our troops. Things that did not exist under Saddem Hussein -- like freedom. So help pass this good news on to others and tell them what the MSM won't:

Did you know that 47 countries have reestablished their embassies in Iraq?

Did you know that the Iraqi government now employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?

Did you know that 3,100 schools have been renovated, 364 more are under way, and 263 new schools are now under construction -- 38 new schools have already been completed in Iraq?

Did you know that Iraq's higher educational structure consists of 20 universities, 46 institutes or colleges and 4 research centers, all currently operating?

Did you know that the Iraqi navy is operational? They have 5 - 100-foot patrol craft, 34 smaller vessels and a naval infantry regiment.

Did you know that Iraq's Air Force consists of three operational squadrons, which includes 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport aircraft (under Iraqi operational control) which operate day and night, and will soon add 16 UH-1 helicopters and 4 Bell Jet Rangers?

Did you know that Iraq has a counter-terrorist unit and a Commando Battalion?

Did you know that the Iraqi Police Service has over 55,000 fully trained and equipped police officers?

And that there are 5 Police Academies in Iraq that produce over 3500 new officers each 8 weeks?

Did you know there are more than 1,100 building projects going on in Iraq? They include in addition to the 364 schools, 67 public clinics, 15 hospitals, 83 railroad stations, 22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities and 69 electrical facilities.

Did you know that 96% of Iraqi children under the age of 5 have received the first 2 series of polio vaccinations?

Did you know that 4.3 million Iraqi children were enrolled in primary school by mid October?

Did you know that there are 1,192,000 cell phone subscribers in Iraq and phone use has gone up 158%?

Did you know that Iraq has an independent media that consists of 75 radio stations, 180 newspapers and 10 television stations?

Tragically, the lack of accentuating the positive in Iraq serves two purposes: to undermine the world's perception of the United States, thus minimizing support, and to discourage American citizens.

So pass this on and bypass the MSM.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! The Coming North American Union

We aired a talk Phyllis Schlafly, founder of Eagle Forum, gave on the NAU (North American Union), at the California Eagle Forum annual conference.

While some politicians and pundits shrug off concerns of a coming North American Union, Phyllis gave the facts about the NAU and the unreported, behind the scenes, but documented meetings and plans of the three heads of state of Mexico, Canada and the United States.

It's unbelievable what's happening. If you are unaware of the NAU ere are some of the links we have in our Issues Library from the show on it:

HOT OFF THE SHOW! - Gay Forum for '08 Candidates Report

In addition to talking about candidates' positions on the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy regarding homosexuals in the media, on the show tody I did a recap of the first Gay Forum for Presidential Candidates, help last Thursday night, August 9th, in Los Angeles.

Democrat Presidential hopefuls participated in a two-hour forum televised exclusively on the Logo Network, on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues. Sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign, Logo is the nation's leading GLBT television channel. Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese, Melissa Etheridge and Washington Post journalist Jonathan Capehart were the panelists.

The following Democrat candidates participated : Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson.

Candidate positions:

Bottom line -- all the candidates support all the issues of concern to the homosexual community except one -- gay marriage. Only Kucinich and Gravel are for gay marriage.

Of course, this raised questions from the panel, such as to Obama: "Isn't this then a separate but equal position?" Obama said no, that it was a matter of 'semantics.' He said he favors all rights for gay couples afforded to government sanctioned marriage, and that it rests with the churches if they want to accept marriage for gays or not. Again, the panel said that he was then designating 'marriage' as a religious term.

Candidates positions on all gay rights issues here.

Interestingly: Mike Gravel took on Hillary Clinton’s stance on same-sex marriage after the forum (she opposes it, but is in favor of civil unions. In an article, he equated her position with those who defended slavery and segregationists.
"During last week’s historic gay debate, Hillary Clinton dredged up the old states rights argument when justifying her opposition to gay marriage. Apparently she thinks that the second class citizenship of gays and lesbians is a matter for the states to decide."

HRC Poll Results following the forum:

WHO’S YOUR CANDIDATE?
Barack Obama 45%
Dennis Kucinich 25%
Hillary Clinton 14%
Mike Gravel 8%
John Edwards 5%
Bill Richardson 3%

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Blue Dog Democrats

Capitol Hill correspondent David Brody took us inside the democrat-controlled Congress and the power of the Blue Dog Democrats on the show today, talking about what should we make of the hiring of ‘faith gurus’ by democrat leaders and 2008 Presidential hopefuls. Plus who will likely be the top contenders for both parties.

"For my friends on the right, I think it would be helpful to remember the critical role that the separation of church and state has played in preserving not only our democracy but also our religious practice." - Barack Obama

More quotes here.

On tomorrow's LIVE! show we're going to talk about the Gay Forum for democrat presidential candidates held in Los Angeles last week. Very interesting to say the least.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Ramos & Compean Update

Ramos and Compean

If you're following this story (and everyone should) you know that the latest on the controversial imprisonment of two of our border agents, Ramos and Compean is that thanks to the persistance of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, it was discovered that the Mexican drug smuggler that one of the agents shot in the buttocks as he was fleeing their persuit, was granted six border crossing passes to enter the U.S. — including two after he was linked by federal law enforcement to a previous to this case marijuana smuggling effort.

Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila - Drug Smuggler

Copies of the six crossing cards, were released last Wednesday by Rohrabacher:

“The whole episode stinks, and now we are beginning to see evidence of just how rotten it really is.” -Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif.

John Sutton said that the illegal alien smuggler was not, in fact, permitted to travel unescorted into the U.S. after word surfaced that he may have been involved with a subsequent drug shipment. From there on out, he was escorted personally by federal agents to the U.S.”

Excuse me? He certainly wasn't with an escort when caught by Ramos and Compean! So why is Sutton and others so bent on the severity of this case?

Duncan Hunter, presidential candidate on the GOP ticket, said Ramos and Compean received sentences (11 and 12 years respectively) that are longer than for some murderers.

Today was our LIVE show so it is not in the archives, but you can order a CD of the show covering the particulars of this. See how to order here.

This case is just one example of the insanity surrounding our border issues. WorldNetDaily reported on this a year ago:

Uniformed Mexicans with guns, bulldozer seize drug-bust truck from Border Patrol:

U.S. Border Patrol agents were backed down by armed men, dressed in what appeared to be Mexican military uniforms and carrying military weapons, who seized a captured dump truck filled with marijuana from the U.S. agents and dragged it across the border into Mexico with a bulldozer.

The border incident occurred when Border Patrol agents attempted to pull over a dump truck on Interstate 10 in Hudspeth County, Texas. The driver fled from the agents, exiting the freeway and driving toward the Rio Grande which runs within 2 miles of the interstate in this portion of West Texas.

The driver abandoned the truck after it became stuck in the river bed, escaping into Mexico. Agents called for reinforcement from the Texas state troopers and Hudspeth County sheriff and began unloading the haul – estimated to have been nearly 3 tons – when everything changed.

As both sides faced off, a bulldozer appeared from the Mexico side of the river and was used by the armed men to pull the dump truck – and the two-thirds of the marijuana that had not yet been unloaded – into Mexico. The bulldozer, Doyal said, is believed to be used regularly to make makeshift crossings over the Rio Grande.

los Zetas -Mexican drug commandos

As WorldNetDaily has reported, there are widespread reports of U.S.-trained Mexican commandos, called the Zetas, making cross-border runs into U.S. territory in military-style vehicles, armed with automatic weapons.

The Zetas were trained as elite commandos by U.S. forces to combat the drug cartels, but they have switched sides and are working for the drug smugglers in the border area posing a special hazard to American law enforcement and Border Patrol agents, according to a U.S. Justice Department memo. Under the control of reputed drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the Zetas are conducting a bloody war for control of the entire southern border in an effort to secure a monopoly on drug-smuggling and people-smuggling routes.

HOT OFF THE SHOW! Population Control & the UN

Today on the show Steven Mosher, President of Population Research Institute told why the UN Population Fund needs to be de-funded. Fortunately since the present Bush Administration the U.S. has not contributed to it, much because of the efforts of PRI. See Steven's article on why here.

Plus why he talked about why he thinks there is still hope of getting another Roberts or Alito confirmed to the Supreme Court despite the Democrat-control of the House and the Senate, but only if the White House is not won in '08 by the Left.

We also talked about Nancy Pelosi's ties to a population control group, as well as the Progressive Caucus which has ties to the Democrat Socialists of America.

Liberals are calling for population control to end global warming:

"Human population growth is the paramount environmental issue," Ric Oberlink, a spokesman for Californians for Population Stabilization, told Cybercast News Service.

"Global warming is a very serious problem, but it is a subset of the overpopulation problem," he said.

However, Steven Mosher pointed out that population is actually good for the environment. Very interesting show with vital information you can catch online if you missed it on the radio, using the link below.

Dead Fetuses Found in Clinics

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend was on the Colbert Report last night talking about her book, "Failing America's Faithful". She represented the religious political LEFT saying that the religious RIGHT has 'shrunk God' -- to the 'non-bibilical' issues of abortion, gay marriage, et al. (more on this on our WOMANTalk show this Friday).

But...I would have liked to ask her -- "Well, what do you think God thinks about this?" ...

From Mother May I...Be Born?

What About Dead Fetuses Found in Clinics?

We’re shocked and appalled when we read that ”Police Find Four Fetuses in Mom’s Home,” as reported by the Associated Press.

No wonder.

The first of the four dead babies, a boy described by authorities as a “viable fetus/infant,” was found “wrapped in a white towel with a blue stripe in the cabinet below the bathroom sink” of the home that Christy Freeman shared with her boyfriend Raymond W. Godman, Jr. The fetus appeared to be in his 26th week, according to the medical examiner’s report and the AP.

Police, FBI personnel and cadaver-sniffing dogs discovered two of the other fetuses bagged separately in a bedroom trunk. The fourth fetus, also bagged, was found in a small recreational vehicle in Freeman’s driveway. The babies’ causes of death, ages and relationship to Freeman are still under investigation.

Still these numbers are nothing compared to all of the dead fetuses and embryos laying in the back rooms of abortion clinics; some 3,500 abortions are performed every day in the U.S.A.

CAIR Demanding Robert Spencer be shut down

Robert Spencer, Author and Founder of Jihad Watch, whom we had recently on the show discussing his book, "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" has come under attack by CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations). They sent this letter to the Young America’s Foundation (YAF) which is holding its annual student conference this week in Washington DC. Robert Spencer is scheduled to speak there tomorrow. CAIR is demanding that Spencer be shut down.

See Robert's response here.

Michelle Malkin spoke at the conference yesterday and has more information on this on her blog. She asks that we spread this letter far and wide, and that it tells you everything you need to know about CAIR’s anti-American contempt for free speech and legal bullying tactics:

21 Korean Hostages Still Alive after Wednesday Deadline Threat

The remaining 21 Hostages...please pray for them

Breitbart reports: The Taliban's Wednesday deadline for the release of prisoners in exchange for the lives of the remaining 21 South Korean Christians taken hostage passed Wednesday with a Taliban spokesman saying none had been harmed, but that two female hostages were 'very sick and could die from illness.'

On Tuesday, Afghan police found the body of a second hostage slain since the Christians were taken two weeks ago. The demand is for eight militant prisoners, which includes some held by the U.S. at its Bagram base, had to be released or more hostages would die.

The Taliban militia has killed two of the male captives after two previous deadlines were not met.

South Korea is sending a parliamentary delegation to the United States to seek help in resolving this crisis. Relatives of the hostages pleaded for help at the U.S. embassy in the South Korean capital.

The 23 South Koreans were kidnapped on July 19 while riding a bus on the Kabul-Kandahar highway. This is the largest group of hostages seized in Afghanistan since the U.S. invasion that drove the Taliban from power.
